It's unnoticeable most of the time. I'd skip it and put something in instead that gave you better enhancement values. The other five decimation IOs short you on damage by quite a bit.

I'd rather put an explosive strike chance for damage (KB set) for a proc.

Im not a big fan of the decimation set as a whole

Wouldn't be my first choice. Over the years since hitting 50 on my main I've used:

2 nucleolus, 3 centrioles, 1 endred SO (the reach out and touch you slotting) from pre-IO days.

The above only instead of the Endred SO going with an Explosive Strike

Full set of Thunderstrike

5 Decimation (no proc), with either a Explosive Strike, Apoc %neg, or centriole HO at various times.

5 Apocalypse (sans Dam), 1 lvl 50 range IO

5 Decimation (no proc), 1 Acc/Dam/Rech Apocalypse (the rest of the Apoc being in her Dark Blast from Dark Mastery)

Not necessarily the best potential slotting for the overall build but the 5 HO's plus Explosive Strike may have been the most fun. 60+ foot range !!

well if i were to do a damage proc I'd probably save up for an apoc =P with the deci being as underwhelming as you all say it is, i guess I will either save the slot assuming I can get good acc/dam/rech with 5 slots, or maybe go for entro heal proc

thanks

I did both....

5 Apocs (no acc/rech) and the Explosive Strike

Um, there is nothing wrong with decimation, "quite a bit" using level 40s you get 62.73% accuracy, 89.17% damage, 43.43% end reduction, and 62.73% recharge.

You skip the buikld up proc, and slot a 50 t-strike in the 6th slot, turns into 62.73% accuracy, 96.93% damage (capped) 64.63% end reduction and 82.53% recharge. Seems pretty DARN good to me.

maybe, but the topic is about the validity of the proc, not the set as a whole, certainly not the set -proc.

and catwhoord mentioned how he's not a fan of the set as a whole either, guess that inlcudes the proc. But i think the OP edited his original post, so i didn't see anything about this thread being just about the proc, seemed like it was the decimation set in general. Oh well, i stand by what i say, i generally avoid procs unless they are ABSOLUTELY necessary for bonuses like touch of death and mako for defense bonuses.

yeah, I edited it to just the word "resolved" so I can see where you missed it, I also made a thank you post so I could see where you would think its a fresh topic. My apoligies for any confusion.

I may indeed use the acc/dam/rech enhancment since acc/dam/rech IOs are a little rarer on ranged damage sets.

might do something like:
deci - acc/dam/rech
apoc - acc/dam/rech *assuming I cant affoard* glad jav - acc/dam/rech/end
ruin - acc/dam/rech
devastation - acc/dam/rech
entropic- 10% chance 5% HP *assuming it's no good* apoc - 33% for moderate neg en

if I cant affoard apoc proc and entro sucks ill either go with a thunderstrike IO for the 2 piece recovery bonus or ill put a slot somewhere else if i can get something better with it. I have a good feeling with entro tho because im /elec so heals are never a bad idea. I wonder how much rech I need to get a FU-slash-focus-slash ST chain going...

Would personally go with a 5 piece apoc minus the dam/end or dam/rech and stick the BU proc in it. For a cheaper slotting I'd go with 4 pieces Devastation minus the dam/end and the proc with acc/dam/rech thunderstrike and the BU proc.
The set bonuses are nice on those and I do like the BU proc
