What's a "good" amount of passive regen?

Like the topic suggests, I'm just looking for a good ballpark number to shoot for. I'm not asking "what's the best regen you've seen?" I'm coming up with a character build that ends up with a lot of regen along with some other mitigation, and I want to know whereabouts I stand in comparison.

Regen is dependent on max health, so rather than compare to % regen, I'd like to compare hit points per second.

Is 20 HP/sec a lot? What about 30 HP/sec?

About how much does a regen scrapper have without Instant Healing on? In and out of Dull Pain?

How about a willpower scrapper? With and without Rise to the Challenge.

What does a /mental blaster get with a halfway or more saturated Drain Psyche?

With a /WP Scrapper I strive for 60-70 HP a second.

With a WP/ Tanker I strive for 100 HP a second.

With my /MM blaster, I truthfully don't worry to much about it, and whatever I get I just consider a bonus.

Been awhile since I played a /Regen, so I don't remember what I went for.

On a */Regen Scrapper, getting more regen is rather pointless because of the comparative improvement of regen decreases as you get more (5 more hp is is a 100% improvement when you've got 5 hp/sec but only a 5% improvement when you've got 100 hp/sec), not to mention that you actually get just as much, if not more, more hp/sec from your click powers than from simple regen.

On a */regen Scrapper, I generally aim for 50-60 hp/sec passive regeneration because investing IO effort into improving mitigation pays out much higher dividends. Essentially, just slot the regen powers that actually have decent payouts and don't aim for any set bonuses. The same applies for */WP.

For any other Scrapper secondary, I would aim for 25-30 hp/sec at the very minimum, though, to me, it's more important to set a goal number for damage mitigation and just get as much tangential damage recovery as you can along the way.

This is what I do on non-Regens and non-WPs. I usually end up with around 300% regen "bonus" from the combination of Health, set bonuses, unique IOs, etc., and then I also try for +HP bonuses (from sets and accolades) to get me to the right target numbers that Umbral mentions above.

Note that I may slack on the +HP bonuses if my powers include +HP power like Dull Pain (which can can be made perma through +recharge) or on +Regen bonuses if I have a strong self heal like Healing Flames.

My own BS/SR Scrapper has about 30 hp/sec. Combined with being at the soft-cap and having just under 1.9k hp, I can ignore pretty much any hit that does manage to land that doesn't take him below 1/2 health, because odds are I'll regenerate it back before I'm hit again. And if not, then there's Aid Self and SR's scaling resistances.

My Rad/Sonic Defender, PvP/solo specced, pulls about 20 hp/sec at about 1.4k health. However, I didn't aim for regeneration bonuses on her, I just happened to get it.

I assume those values are at least decent for both toons. Of course, more regen never hurts.

I appreciate all the replies; thanks everyone. My numbers seem respectable, but don't come near a good WP or regen, which is what I expected.

For anyone's curiosity, I'm building a regen blapper of sorts out of my human form PB. In the end, I have 377% regen and 21% in health bonuses (41% if I get the accolades).

I'm showing 20 HP/sec without essence boost, 30 HP/sec with. The numbers go up by five with accolades. Add in the self heal and the resist shields, I expect to be pretty survivable.

I would definitely recommending going for defense emphasis over regen emphasis if you're looking to make yourself survivable. Defense would help you dodge mez effects (which are a major problem for humanform Khelds imo), not to mention that it's the strongest defensive effect you can get from IOs, especially since you've already got respectable damage recovery from Essence Boost and Reform Essence (which, with a decent bit of recharge is going to net you ~25 or more hp/sec).
