Kin / Sonic Defence build
a lot of mezzes are area types, most notably the stun grenades from malta. An easy way to boost your area defense is to use Aegis in your tough and mind over body.
Have you used defender world of confusion before? I tried it and found it completely useless, though I did find ONE person who found it useful.
As for stamina, you can safely go without it once you have transfusion, but I suggest you keep it for those times when you exemplar below the levels where you have transfusion, and to reduce how often you need to use it.
Thanks Garent for the input.
I got rid of World of Confusion.
(I have never used it, I only had it because as a Kin I would be up in melee alot and I don't have capped Melee Defense.)
I also have Stamina, But to make room I had to get rid of Increase Density(which is a cool buff) and Siphon Power.(Not such a big thing after Fulcrum, but will suck if I go lower)
This account has a high enough Vet reward so I can pick a travel by lvl 6 so don't be to freaked out by that slotting.
Since some of the mezzes you said are AoE I did what I could to max that as well.
with this build I have:
Melee : 29.8% Defense
Ranged: 45.5% Defense
AoE : 46.1% Defense
again I don't know if this is even a good thing to attempt so if anybody else has any thought about this please feel free to post.

Thx again for looking at this and giving feedback.

The build's pretty tight. One thing you can definitely do though is take out the second accuracy from fulcrum shift. You could also copy the slotting you're using maneuvers and use that in weave too.
Oh, and are you okay with using the gladiator's armor proc? It's delicious, but last I heard it costs 1.5 billion.
Not to highjack your thread but can someone post a softcap build? Me and my wife are duoing Kin/Sonic. Also, do you think World of Confusion will work better for us since it will be stacked?
Edit: I forgot to say what I was looking to soft cap--Melee Defense or F/C/E/N if possible. Since we'll be running in and out of melee range.
With the Numi and Miracle uniques, my Kin/Sonic does not have Stamina in his build. With those IOs and various +Recovery bonuses, he doesn't even need to use Transference as a crutch.
Other than that, it's hard for me to comment since it's clear you and I have fundamental differences on how to build a kin/sonic, or probably any defender. You're building for the Def bonuses at the expense of powers, and I built mine making sure to take powers that were, for me, mandatory and built bonuses on top of that. Powers such as Siphon Power (key for AV/GM fights), ID (mez breaker and more) and Dreadful Wail were non-negotiable for me. Note, I'm not saying "I am philosophically right and you are wrong", we just have different objectives.
Philly I don't have a build for you, but if you and your wife both take Grant Invis and Stealth (SB will overcome the -speed) that's an easy way to add 5-8% Def there. Taking those 2 with Maneuvers (x2) and CJ will get you 14.5-22.5% Def (depending on slotting), a good start.
Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

As for stacked world of confusion, that has some potential. If you both get the contagious confusion proc in there, I think you'll definitely see good results.
Just hit 24 with this new defender and trying to decide what I should do future wise with him.
I'm not sure if its true but, I read somewhere on the forums that holds and mezzes where a ranged attack and if I maxed ranged defense it would help a lot.
I just through this together in mid's and I would like some opinions on this an possibly some polishing if this is deemed a good idea.
Any opinions you can give would be greatly appreciated.

My concerns with this build our as follows:
1. I have alot of toggles but, with Transference do I need the stamina pool?
2. Although ranged is maxed my melee and AoE are only in the 20'S and my only defense is World of confusion for close encounters as I couldn't find room for Screech,Shockwave,Sirens song, or Mass hynosis.
This build will be for teams (NOT PvP) and if I solo its only for a couple missions as I can't stand playing by myself.
Anyway that's about all I can think of.
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Mal
