The Defuser! Yes, met him at HeroCon 2008. Very nice guy, too. Not quite sure if he's "well known" enough, but yes, it'd be a start. Trick is to avoid making it look cheesy, a la Captain Dynamic from the ROOSTER TEETH guys.

CoX + Marketing = Myth.
This games marketing department has been abysmally inept for years, and it actually got better after the split with Cryptic, which only illustrates how woefully incompetent it is.

There, I'm you're marketing dept, now pay me what you're paying the current clowns.
Granted CoX is a niche game, but even someone on a janitors grade could put together tiny Issue teasers and bulk email (free lol) them in a couple hours.

Detective2416, he's been on Champion for years.
Those more "in the know" than I am might have an answer to this one - does the game (or NCSoft) track how people were referred (a la "how did you hear about us?")? It might be interesting to see what is currently the most effective means of getting people into the game (or in certain instances, KEEPING people in the game)...
For example:
- Refer-a-Friend program
- Free trial from main website
- Presence at various 'cons
- Video ads (such as the Captain Dynamic ads, "I'm a Hero/I'm a Villain", etc)
- Emails
- Banner ads
That sort of thing.
*suddenly has a thought*
I wonder... if the player community has a few folks in it who actually KNOW marketing (ie, do it for a living)... and we've got at least a couple of professional graphic designers on here (I'm married to one)... I wonder if the playerbase could create a questionnaire that we'd all fill out (although non-forum-visitors would need to find a way to hear about it - maybe get the Powers That Be to put a link on the launcher or up in the News section or send out an email)...
... coz I'd really like to know.

this game can be sooo much more then it is, if the communcation between the fans/players and the behind the game people becomes much more.
for one, the videos u make plus more proactive advertisment would make people more adware of the game.
