need bane advice
This build is kind of screwy and would work better on a team than solo (as is the case for VEATs in general these days, especially in arena matches where you should have enough +percep to drop Stalkers out of hide), but it's got 49 points of KB protection, 1635 HP, 55% global recharge bonus, and about 17% damage bonus outside of BU. Didn't take Shatter Armor because there just wasn't room for it (you could probably fudge the build around a bit if you don't want Placate, and make room for it).
EDIT: Oh and a ******** of ranged defense, which'll get DR'd, but you should still be somewhat tough to hit without outside help.

Really, if you're gonna play a gimp toon, at least take the one really good power you can get. I really like the Slash+SA combo on my widow, and I'm sure a bane would be almost identical.
Nah, Shatter when hidden will do quite a bit more than Shatter Armor. SA does more base, but when you factor in the crit it gets nasty (might be even nastier if you did SA -> Placate -> Shatter). The problem with Banes in PvP is they're incredibly hard to build because there aren't many powers you want to be skipping, and you need to fit in at least the two travel powers and phase - another one of my builds went with double Assault and Tactics instead of the Fitness pool but I doubt I'd ever actually use that in combat.

how about this one? my mids will only let me slot shatter armor with to hit buff so i put pulverize in as a placeholder to plan out the IOs. i wasnt aware that banes could go higher than 1606hp(i play too many squishies), what is their HP cap? this build has 1728hp, 32.5% +rech before mental training(20%), 18% +damage, decent +acc and +def and -43 kb w/o acrobatics.
also uses no purples and only the amount of lotg i actually had lying around in my vg base. do you think a bane with CT:O needs a kismet? i could drop a lotg for a kismet pretty easily. finally, how important do you think placate is? i couldnt fit it in this build and still have CT:O.
i am thinking i can build this for considerably less than 500m based off of what i already have. i wonder if its worth it?

Sorry mac, but I think you're wrong. I tested widow's Slash vs bane's shatter a while ago, and they were very close....I think Slash may even be slightly stronger. And I've been playing my widow a lot lately, using both slash from hide and SA. SA is without any doubt stronger. I think if you do SA to placate to shatter, it would maybe do more because of SA's -20% res, but I don't have placate so I haven't tested it.

thanks mac. my only real concern is that without a hard mez, toggles like rad infection etc. will be really hard to have to escape regularly, whereas with ct: o you can stay aggressive.
i guess the fact that you tweaked it so easily means that if i dont like your version it will be easy to just use the other one.
Stun grenades in team arena matches if you don't have a mezzer (should probably not be doing 1v1s on that). If you're in zones your teammates will probably be more helpful.

This is the build I threw together today. It has no sj but I have been playing banes in pvp with no sj since they came out so its no biggie to me. It adds surviellance which I love to have. Was a pretty cheap build to throw together and seemed to function well in rv for the test run. It has 42 kb protection without acro, 1696 hp with accos, +20 dam. the +ranged defense could stand to be higher it drs down to about 37 in rv but honestly I still noticed quite a few misses even from blasters. Good little disruption toon. Wish they would look at veat primary damage again though. For one of the ats that gets the least from bonus resistance and no elusivty it deserves to be a little harder hitter. Adding some elusvity would be nice as well.
