CoX customization and modding

I think the biggest issue is that such things could possibly be abused rather easily. They would have to screen every costume piece, map design and such to keep anything inappropriate from making it into the game. That is also why the AE system let you only use costume pieces and graphics that are already in game. Inappropriate text can be caught to an extent with filters and such, the same can't be done with graphics.

Which reminds me: The very first user created graphics mod for CoX was a female nude patch. Think about what that says about our community. To be fair I suspect it's only the second or third most popular clientside mod (easily topped by the map patch) and one of the most enduring.

Tangential Thought: I wish the dev staff was more supportive of the M/ERP community in terms of emotes, costume bits, etc. but I know it's not going to happen while they've got that T rating and minor players, but damn it, I can dream.

Right... because what the AE really needs is a giant crowd of XP whores begging to get on a team.

I look at it this way:

If I pick a random time of day, and go to, say the Talos Island SG Portal. How many people do I see there? Two, maybe?

How about checking out Ouroboros. At any one time? Five?

People don't generally stand around just to stand around anywhere else in this game (except maybe the D where that is the whole point and AP, where it has become the point) why would they do so in the AE?

(Note that I am not arguing that the population hasn't decreased... it has. What I am arguing, is that it isn't that unlike the rest of the places and features in this game at the moment.)
