Alternate Damage

Just a small thought that occurred to me while thinking of Dual Pistols. As most by now one of the powers, assumed or confirmed: I don't recall, allows the user to change ammo types to deal different types of damage. So, I was thinking it would be a neat idea to allow users with the Claws powerset or any other, if there are other, sets that have an alternate damage type to be allowed to switch between the two. I'm referring to how Claws for Scrappers and Stalkers deals solely Lethal damage while Night Widows get Lethal with a small Toxic DoT. Of course I'm all for compromise and if that involves upping the End costs slightly or whatever so be it, I just think having more options is always a good idea.

I think I can speak for all of myself here when I say /jranger.
We don't even know how switching the damage for pistols works anyways, for all we know it could be toggles.

They've pretty much said it's going to be a single click power that causes mode cycling. It's pretty much the same thing that the Dual Blades attacks do (i.e. being mode 1 for X seconds, if in mode 1, go to mode 2 for X seconds, etc). The problem with incorporating a system in which all character have the ability to do this is that it involves a lot of going in and changing up the powers in question. It's not simply "when this is on, some of my damage is changed to ice!" It's a question of the power checking your mode and then determining that, because you're in mode 2, rather than 1, you'll have different effects that you would otherwise.

Pretty much guarenteed to not happen for existing sets.
Why? They are balanced as they are, and re-working them would be a lot of work and manpower for something that, potentially, could unbalance it all.

This. Dual Pistols is going to be specifically balanced for being able to change damage types. The other sets would need to be completely reworked to get this to work for them. It's not just as easy as saying that if you change their damage type, 50% is the original damage type, and 50% is the new damage type. This is due to the fact that different damage types are less resisted than others in the game.

Most sets currently in the game are balanced around that. Changing that up would mean changing every powerset individually, and I just don't think that it's worth it.

Maybe add more damage Proc IOs that do different damage types, but that's about it.
