Secondary Inherent

Being able to unlock a secondary inherent upon reaching 50 seems like it could be a neat idea.

-The unlocked inherent would be a lesser version of the one in use by the AT that unlocks it (By both reaching level 50 AND acquiring a necessary Accolade). The secondary inherent would be weaker than its counterpart:

Fury - Would take twice as long to build, depletes twice as fast and have half the buildup value

Scourge - Chance to scourge would be reduced by half and only do 50% of what normal scourge could do

Domination - Control powers would last 25% longer; no mag bonus. Domination would last only half as long and take longer to recharge

Containment - Applies 50% of normal containment buff to damage and only applies to the attack following the successful application of a control power against a target

Critical Hit - 2.5% chance of critting a Minion; 5% of critting a Lt or higher.

Defiance - Half the 'normal' stacking damage bonus for a 50% shorter duration

Gauntlet - Limited to poke-voke mechanics

Supremacy - +3% to hit; +8% damage in a 20' radius [to all allies/pets]

Vigilance - 50% of the endurance discount available to standard Vigilance.

Assassination - Each attack has a small chance to Demoralize targets at a fraction of the strength and duration of normal Demoralize

Cosmic Balance/Dark Sustenance - omitted from the list for the time being

-The secondary inherent would be available to [deletion] future character builds.

-Only one secondary can be utilized by a single character build.

-A character would be able to respec into a new secondary inherent; if one is available and only to those that have already been unlocked.

-[A character cannot take a secondary inherent with its parent; ie. no Scourge/Scourge]

A long, long time ago in a forum far away... I had an idea like this.

It was called 'Inherents Unleashed' or something. Basically, upon reaching Level 40 (since nothing else really happens beyond a new costume) you'd be able to run a series of missions that would unlock a second Inherent power, but there would be several to choose from. For instance:

Scrapper:
1. Critical Hit chance is doubled
2. Critical Hits stun enemies
3. Upon scoring a Critical Hit, you gain status protection for 5 seconds
4. Critical Hits increase the recharge time of all powers by 100% for 5 seconds
5. Knock Up/Back/Down attacks automatically score Critical Hits.

This list goes on for some time, all basing it off of the original Inherent of the AT.

I like both ideas, but I'd like to see defenders get a decent inherent first. Perhaps a Poower Boost like Domination button or Fury bar.

If only all of the inherent powers, except for those of the Dominators, Masterminds, and Corruptors, we actually powers and not just placeholders (Brutes are half and half).

Every single other inherent power is actually generated by being a baked in effect to every single power that the character has access to. Containment is accomplished by having every single Controller power check to see whether the target is mez'd in order to deal double the damage. Critical is accomplished by giving every Scrapper power a couple procs (one for minions and below and another that is for lts and higher) that deals as much damage as the original power. Fury is generated by each power in question with a specific line of code specific for the Brute versions of the power (along with the inherent that converts Fury into +dam).

Now, this isn't to say it isn't possible. It is. All it would require would be for a permanent mode be generated that is unlocked by the quest in question and then additional lines of code added to every single power that the AT can use to benefit from with their inherent adding or modifying the specific effects. It wouldn't be impossible. It would just involve a great deal of going out and tweaking pretty much every single power in the game several times over.
