Laptop dies immediately after character login

I use a HP HDX laptop, with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.67 ghz processor, a P8800 graphics card, 4.0 gb ram, and windows vista 64 bit operating system.

My problem is I can log in and select a server and character, but once I load the character into the game my laptop dies on the spot. A complete system shutdown. It's happened 3 times in a row.

I checked for obvious things: battery power is full, internet is working properly, etc. The only thing I can think of is that I raised the game's resolution before these crashes and perhaps it's too much for the laptop. I've been trying to at least load my character into the game so I can change the res. back, but it seems I'm SoL there.

Any ideas?

Two options for you. Start the game in Safe Mode. You start the updater, click Next but before you click Accept on the next screen put a checkmark in Safe Mode then click Accept. This will start the game with the lowest graphics settings and allow you to get to the menus to adjust the settings.

Or, you could download TweakCoH and use it to adjust the graphics settings before you start the game.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
