Scrappers and damage/taunt auras
I believe when the game released, only Invincibility, even for tankers, had a Taunt effect. When they added gauntlet in Issue 3, they added a Taunt effect to the other tanker auras.
I believe the Taunt effect that gets translated to scrappers is only in powers that provide a direct mitigation benefit to the scrapper. That seems to be the design principle that guides the devs, based on what we have seen. I believe this is why the damage auras (and Evasion) for scrappers do not Taunt. |
I wouldn't mind seeing this looked at but I doubt this will ever change.

I've got the moves that make them all tap out.
The Angle Slam, the Ankle Lock.

I'm just the sexy Kurt.
I'll make your ankle hurt.

And as for "throwing taunt at a toon that really shouldnt be taunting", let me remind you that ALL Scrappers primaries get a taunt power (single target), |
Yes, but I wouldn't compare confront to Taunt or any of the other powers that have taunt aspects in them because the purpose of confront is to pull a baddie off of a friend if they get in a bind, not to pull baddies to you so you can take the damage or in the aura's case fulfill designated role. I'm not trying to argue friend, I just agree and disagree with the reasoning behind it. Carry on man.

I'm not sure the issue is that much about the scrapper taunt auras, or more about mobs tending to flee a bit too much in this game.
However I totally support this idea. I've unslotted and stopped to play my Spine/DA and rerolled her into a Spine/Invuln for this precise reason.
And I would consider it also for /SR, as the brute version of the set has a taunt aura.
Add to that, that many people still think that Spines/Fire, /Dark, /Elec reign supreme over hero solo farming, that is not true in my opinion. Spines nerfs mobs recharge, once they cant fire an attack they also start to run, so it aggravates the problem even more. Those combos are still very good at killing +0 minions/lieuts very fast before the running problem occurs, but against tougher opponents alot of fleeing make them much less efficient in my experience.
If I do recall correctly though a red name stated they only added taunt to powers that buff the scrapper. So if you get a damage buff based on enemys being near you the devs offset that buff with the taunt aura. The taunt almost being used as a penalty to balance the buff.

Still, OK, I can live with that explanation if it's true:
"Hey, devs! Please buff up the damage auras? Maybe cut the endurance in half? As everyone knows, the endurance on those damage auras is just unfair. They could really use a buff. What? You'd need to add a taunt effect to it to balance it out? OUCH. Man, that'll suck. That's a whole lot of aggro. That's going to make it hard to survive, particularly on teams. Wow. Boy. Tough decision. Really tough. But yeah, OK. I guess it's worth it for me to stop bottoming out my blue bar. Do it if you must."

Mob AI has been unintendedly screwy since i12 came out, and apparently not even the devs know why.

My Death Shroud is fine as is, if there is nothing in range of it, it just means I killed it all already.
Granted, it's par for the course, and I'm not any more annoyed than my general annoyance at running enemies in MMOs - it's just so RUDE of them to not stand there and let me kill them! And I could instead be playing one of my toons that DOES have a taunt aura, but I'm enjoying my Dark Armor more at the moment despite the running. But yeah, if Death Shroud had a taunt effect, it would be even more betterful.
