Question on reinstallation!
If the game folders are still there, the game is likely still installed. Check in the game folder to see if CoHUpdater.exe is there as well as CityOfHeroes.exe
It sounds as if all that happened was that the shortcut was removed from the desktop.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Ah, the patch has already restored desktop icons and all that jazz, that's good to see ^-^
It looks like things are going to go smooth and I'll be able to go online in about...oohhh, seven or eight hours. 'Til then I'm playing clean the house.
But hurray!
--If something comes up and it doesn't work I shall return.
Anyone have a spot of advice, possibly other than 'go buy the game again'?

FYI, if you do get back into the game, you might want to buy the Architect Edition package. It gives you a free month of play and you can pick one of the 'super booster packs' (I believe the choices are tech or magic). Each booster pack gives a power that you may, or may not, find amusing plus a bunch of costume parts. The booster packs normally go for $10 so, if you were going to buy one ANYWAY, get the Architect Edition for $20 and get $25 worth of stuffz.

P.S. Your location says you're in Babylon. The one in ancient Mesopotamia? That would be pretty cool. I know there's also a Babylon in NY state, but that's not anywhere near as cool.

Not only do you get a $10 booster pack with the Architect Edition, you also get a month of free game time so another $15 worth of goodness.
I've seen the Architect Edition selling for $20, and you get $25 worth of goodies so you are basically getting a $5 discount. Also, it gives a decent reinstall DVD if you have to do a clean install.

Hey all, long time player but I've taken a break for the past couple months. I was hoping to come back for issue 16 and start things fresh but it seems CoX has been uninstalled from the family computer. This wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that I've got no clue where the install disks are. I decided to download the client and reapply the patches at least, but will that allow me to play? The patches seem to be installing fine, but I've only been at it about half an hour.
When the patch client was brought up again it said that CoX already was installed, but I'm not so sure that's true--I think it was just reading the game folders that were still there. Anyone have a spot of advice, possibly other than 'go buy the game again'?
