Serious Issues With SR

Recently, I created a build that is Battle Axe/ Super Reflexes. I figured out on mid.'s builder that if I slotted my powers using certain sets that I could get my Melee Def to 58% my Ranged to 54% and my AOE to 48%. This will soft cap my defense( and then some). These, if you are not a noob, are very good percentages. However, I was concerned because no matter what I did and how hard I tried, I could not get my Resistances up. My smashing and lethal are only sitting at a mere 18%. At the time, and before i accutally played the char. I did not think this would be an issue knowing that my defence is so high.

On Freedom, I made my char, named her Kuna, and started leveling. I feel in love with Battle Axe and slowly started to dislike Super Reflexes more and more with each level. Optmistic, I still continued to level my char. The time then came in which I hit 47 and could fully slot my sets. I dumped around 2 billion on sets into this bulid. I have 3 full sets of Obiterations, 2 full sets of Red Fortunes, Touch of Death's, Mako's, 5 Luck of the gambler 7.5's, Miracle+, Numinas ++, etc. The list can go on forever, but with what I named im sure you can tell this is not a weakly bulit char. I think to myself, now I am ready to kill! I decided to pick a mission in which should be done easily. Little did I know, I was not going to be very succesfull. I ran into a bunch of major issues. I seem to never have any endruance, and I die easier than a mm with no pets that ran into an ambush.

In conclusion, I am very unhappy with this result. I know its not Battle Axe that is my issue cause my damage is great and its not too end heavy. The issue is with SR. Something needs to be done in the up coming patch or sooner. Super Reflexs is end heavy(because you need so many toggles on to stay alive), extremly low on resistances, and overall, the worst secondary offered to brutes. Do not be fooled into thinking the extreme def. can keep you alive, it cant. If you want a SR brute, be prepaired to become an orange/blue/and green insps attict and a lot of dissapointment.

Go ahead and post the Mids build. What were you fighting? Do you have all three passives? If you don't, there's problem #1.

If I can cruise around at +4/x8 on my claws/sr scrapper, I fail to see how a ba/sr brute with more knock and higher HP meaning more mileage both with just the HP and with the passive scaling dam-res is going to do worse.

Obviously I'm doing no more than guessing at the details of your character's build and slotting, but I'm wondering whether this portion of your post might indicate part of your problem. Obliteration has very little endurance reduction in the set, and having three sets slotted in the powers with the highest end cost on a high recharge build probably means that you devour your blue bar pretty quickly.

Given your high melee defense numbers, you could afford to lose the final set bonus from 2 of those sets and get some end reduction in the attacks, and I think that you'd notice a difference.

The endurance use of the SR toggles isn't too bad once slotted, even if you are using weave on top (and given your budget you might not need to), so I'm gonna point my finger at your primary as the culprit here.

Kunu, when doing the export, it's a lot easier for us to examine builds if we can get the data chunk. That chunk is all I post anymore.

Looks to me like you're overslotted in the passive powers and underslotted in the toggles, particularly Weave. Also, Elude is doing nothing for you. I'd swap a red fortune set into Weave and move some slots from passives to toggles. I'd also put some end reduction in your AOE attacks. Something like this would probably work better for you:

I'd go more for slotting more efficiently rather than slotting the "best" set available. Those Obliterations are the obvious ones. Once your defence in a position is over 45%, the extra is just a safety cushion in general. Streetcleaner is dead on.

Switch out that PerfShifter Acc/Rech for an EndMod, too.

Tough and Weave have pretty hefty End costs, so adding more EndRed in those is advisable.

Resists are nice to have to back up your Defense, but they are exactly that- back up. Slotting more efficiently and giving up some defense is probably your best bet.

Hard to see how you are getting killed so quickly, though, considering the Def numbers. Were you fighting something with serious -Def, like... I dunno, CoT or maybe some DE?

I was fighting some Freaks and I was looking at the build that street cleaner built and I don't really see where the diff. is in the numbers. I see a diff in the regn. but that was the only big one i noticed

Okay street, i gotta hand it to you. That helped me out BIG time...I made a few changes. Like for cleave and pendulum i put in 5 sciroccos instead of oblits. Gave me 20% more regen and a higher aoe def. I just did a mission against freaks on +3/X4 and it went well. I havent baught a few enhancements yet because i cant afford it but i think when i get them there will be more improvments. Thanks

I'm really glad that this helped you out, Kunu. It was kind of (very) late where I am when I posted the build and I probably could have gone in to a bit of detail on where it differed from yours. The main changes were getting the endurance costs of your toggles down, in order to lower persistent end drain, and getting the cost of your big hitting attacks down to a more reasonable level - I'm sure you're noticing a big difference now that you've moved away from Obliterations. You've got what could be a really strong brute there with just a bit of tweaking.

I have an SR scrapper and an SR brute. Love them both, and was given a helpful tip/warning, depending on your primary for either AT, SR can be amazing, or a royal pain depending on slotting, but it's so easy to get up over the soft cap AND make up for the end drain of the toggles and primary attacks.

The brute is Dark Melee, no end issues or problems hittin softcap. The scrapper is Broadsword, almost if not as end-heavy as Battleaxe, but even easier to cap.

I was told that with any end heavy set, always overslot for Recovery and end reduction. Obliteration's set bonuses are nice, but the lack of end redux is a pain. Fitting in a Numina +regen +recovery, and a Miracle +recovery can very easily make up for this.

I five slotted health, 3 Numinas, the Miracle piece, and a Regenerative Tissue +regen piece
(those 3 are pricey, yes, but worth it).

For a cheap alternative you could consider multistrike for endurance heavy aoe attacks, fully slotted it adds a significant amount to aoe and melee def as well as getting over 90% bonus to damage and endredux.
On my elec melee I x2 multi strike sets on fast recharging aoe attacks and put Obliterate in
Lighting Rod for the high recharge.
