Oppresive Gloom on Defenders

After having a quick glance at this thread about the pros/cons of Oppresive Gloom on scrappers I wanted to get some peoples thoughts on whether it is any good for a Defender to use.

Ive only really just got into Defenders and am starting to really enjoy them. Ive got a Kin/Electric and a Rad/Dark planned and was thinking of going the Dark Master route for their epics (although they are a still a 'tad' off reaching lvl 41 yet!) and was thinking of taking Oppresive Gloom.

Am I completely mad?? Or is Oppresive Gloom a valid choice for a Defender???

Thanks!

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

My level 50 Storm/Ice and 50 Dark/Rad both think it is the bee's knees!

My level 50 FF/Sonic respec'd out of it because it and Screech were making all the defence I'd painstakingly built up worthless since the enemies were all mezzed.

It drains next to no end and very little health, and stuns every minion whjo enters melee range. Stick a Stupefy proc in there and it will repel them too, for extra laffs!

I think its the best epic power available to Defenders out of any set, and even better its available from level 41 and needs no slotting.

Its very good match for Kin/Elec- just dont put the Stupefy knockback proc in there.

I like OG but I'm not sure I'd like it nearly as much if I wasn't a Dark/Sonic. With Dark I have Howling Twilight for an AoE stun to stack with OG for >minion abuse. I also have Tar Patch for -speed to keep those staggering stunned drunks from speed-shuffling out of my range so quickly.

That's my least favorite aspect of OG and AoE stuns in general... they scatter the group if there isn't a slow/immob laid down.

Oh and /Sonic has Screech so I get to stack that with either Howling Twilight or OG for boss stuns

Yep it really shines on sets where you can stack the stun effects to mez more than just the minions. Doubly ideal on builds spending lots of time at melee distances to the foes.

I will also chime in with this message. I have tried it with my team build and it was very nice due to stacking stuns. You would be surprised how many powersets out there have some kind of stun. My most common Duos are with a Dark/Dark scrapper who also runs OG and a Fire controller (Flashfire).

However, I eventually respecced it out because I do not have a Stun of my own to stack with it, so its less usefull for an electric blast user. If I played Storm, Dark Blast or any other powerset with a Stun, OG would rock the house.

Thanks for the advice guys - really appreciate it

I thing I had in mind with my Kin/Electric was of having some sort of mitigation while having to be up close and personal due how to how Kin is designed and because of Short Circuit.

With my Kin/Arch I went with Mass Hypnosis but that was mainly because of the long activation time of Rain of Arrows.

With my Rad/Dark I was thinking of having it as a secondary aura control to Choking Cloud and it will stack with Dark Pit.

Ive also got a Storm/Dark defender who I was planning on taking it with because of the synergy between Dark Pit and Thunder Clap - but I haven't quite found the love for this toon yet, I love the look of it on paper (and love Storm from playing my Grav/Storm) but actually playing it hasn't really enchanted me yet!

I had OG on my Rad/FF and without a self-heal I found the hp loss in a group set for 8 to be somewhat annoying when I duo'd with my blaster buddy.
