Unfortunately I'll have to be the bearer of bad news here as the topic title says,
"This is NOT a forum where official technical/QA support is available."
This will have to be introduced as a ticket into the QA system as the forums are not a proper place to get support for this issue.
Doesnt have to be Official help. I have opened a ticket, however im not sure wether its because im a EU player or not but the response times are a tad to long. maybe i should send it by pidgeon?
But yes ive seen that part now. However i also saw Zloths stickied post and assumed it was ok to ask, just not to expect offical help from any of the CoX technical team. I guess either i read wrong or it can be misunderstood.

There is also Known memory leaks within the software. Did you click on something, use a specific power?
The best way I've found to detect a crash as its happening is the sound loop bug. Things will start repeating themselves, powers firing, shields, explosions, music. All will start looping before you can kiss your client goodbye.
With bad memory leaks, no amount of RAM can save you. The memory leak will keep filling up resident memory till its full and the swap file as well.
City of Heroes Reg key is easy to spot within "Local Machine" (I'm doing this off the top of my head because CoX likes to freeze the screen if UAC comes up at any given time which will happen if I open my registry.) The registration key will be under either Cryptic studios or NCSoft After that its pretty easy to locate in the "software" sub-key.
Thanks for the reply.
I will find my speakers tommorow to see if theres a sound loop, it tends to happen when i either click on something like the chat bar, click a power or sometimes if there are a lot of npc firing off powers.
Things I tried today. Tried the old graphic driver....still crashing.
played about with virtual ram. tried setting it to 2000mb initial and max. tried page file at 0. Tried it set to system picks. Same thing happened.
Tomorrow will try shuffling the DDR Cards about, even using the old 512 again (back down to 1.5g then). see if that helps at all.
Other than that i guess its just this leak. Which well if left unfixed will srsly hampen my ability to play at all atm.
Hello people, the last couple of weeks (around i16/zombie event start) ive started crashing. The crash is normally followed by a white screen box asking about reporting, or it just boots back to desktop. At first i thought it maybe Ram issues as i only ran 1.5gig and had read something about a memory leak. I upgraded to 2 gig thinking it may remedy it. It didnt.
I play with sound off so dont know if theres loop, i can however find some speakers to test this if needed. I tried running CoH helper, however it cant find the CoX registry, im assuming this is because my game file is called "city of heroes 2" as i had 2 version 1 for US acc, 1 for EU. I dont have the US one now. I did however manage to run hijack this. Have absolutely no idea what it means, but here it is! ---System information gathered by CoH Helper version 0.1.1.8--- |
With regard to memory: You can have 100 GB of RAM, when the game hits about 1.5 GB, it becomes very unstable and crashes. The command /unloadgfx *use to* help, but doesn't any more. The best we can do right now is to occasionally restart the came to clear the memory leak.

I've noted as well, if you can pull it off,
Stare at the ground and type /reloadgfx
Sometimes this works
Oh thought it hadnt let me do the coh helper.
Anyway here is the hijackthis logfile

Other than that, your good.
The driver dates for your graphics card don't seem to be registering on the CoH Helper report. Make sure they're updated.
It couldn't hurt to go to your manufacturer's web site and see if they have updated drivers for your motherboard chipset/CPU.

Hi guys, thank you all for your help so far. Ive played with my New/old ram sticks to no joy. I guess all this is most likely down to the memory leak that has been brought up.
I just got 2 more questions/options to ask.
1. Is there any program out there that can test compatibility/problems with DDR 1 Memory, other than just shifting/swapping them all about.
2. is there a program out there to determine what mother board i have? all i can find written on it is starboard, however ive tried google and found nothing of any help.
Thanks again.
