Can't Alt-Tab

I just upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, and so far everything with CoH works great... except that I can't alt-tab. Might not sound like much of an issue, but I'm usually IM'ing with people I'd rather not blow off while I play the game, so being able to alt-tab is basically the difference between being able to play the game whenever I want and being able to play it about two hours a week when they're not on.

I also changed versions of video card drivers during the upgrade, from Catalyst 8.something to 9.1. Nothing else about the system has changed, and I'm using the exact same CoH settings, since it's the same account and the same files, copied to an external drive prior to the installation.

When I try to alt-tab, my cursor acts like it was successful--if I move it over where the text field on my IM client is, it turns into an I-beam cursor. However, I can't see anything except CoH, including my task bar. If I drag something onto my second monitor (extended desktop) and start CoH, it doesn't disappear... but that monitor is a TV across the room, so it's not exactly something I can put the windows on for easy use. Hitting Ctrl+Alt+Delete is about the only thing I've found that can grab the main monitor from CoH.

Edit: Since these are the most commonly-suggested solutions I've seen (I just now thought to search for 'minimize' instead of 'alt-tab' or 'alt tab'), CoH is running in the same resolution as my desktop and I've tried switching with another full-screen app open behind it.

Run it in Windowed mode set to Desktop resolution. Problem solved.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

To whoever left the following amusing comment:

Quote:
running in window vs. full screen doesn't actually solve the problem of "can't alt tab in full screen"
Please note that the title of the thread is Can't Alt-Tab and not Can't Alt-Tab in Fullscreen.

I did provide a workaround to the problem as stated. True, you lose a small amount of screen space due to the Taskbar and Title bar. You can even regain the space the Task Bar uses by setting the Task Bar to Autohide and then move the mouse to the bottom of the screen to bring it back up and switch applications.

tl;dr version? if you are going to leave a comment, make sure it's one that fits the problem as stated, not what you think the problem is

EDIT: By the way, this isn't a complaint about the Neg Rep, it's a complaint about using the system and it's anonymity to make a comment that isn't accurate. Rep is meaningless anyway.

I've actually found it best to set the taskbar to autohide and sticking it on the left side of the screen... just set to autohide, it has an annoying tendency to pop back up if I try clicking buttons on the first row of my tray. Even then, I have to set my IM to not blink upon receiving a new message, or it forces the bar up until I acknowledge a message. So, it's a bit annoying to need to change my IM and taskbar settings every time I play the game, but it's at least better than what I had before. I certainly wouldn't pass up a solution to make it start working in fullscreen mode again, but it's gone from 'I may as well give up on levelling' to 'this is slightly annoying.'
