So I'm trying to come up with a good build for my Mind/Emp, mostly used for zones and team arena. I've got two potential builds here - one goes phase/Primal and the other is Ice for Hibernate. Problem with the phase/Primal build is I don't have Regen Aura, and problem with the Ice build is not as much HP as I'd like. Here are the builds... which would you pick, and what changes would you make?

Not gonna bother commenting on the bonuses, since you know that's not my specialty...but I'll say that if you want to go with primal, you'll definitely want regen aura. Find some way to take it, since without hibernoob, it will be one of your 2 main ways to stay alive (other being phase). Especially when you use absorb pain. If phase isn't up, it's almost a guaranteed death, unless playing vs baddos. With RA, you can actually take some damage and be back to full pretty quickly.

I haven't played my Ill/emp in a while, but last time I did, I had a phase+primal build. And I definitely counted on RA a lot for survival. Then again, with just SO's my play experience is a bit skewed.

That's the problem, I can't figure out what to drop so I can fit RA into the Primal build. My first thought was TK but that's soooooo useful for zones when people come out of Hibernate. If this were pre-I13 and people still played Kins, I'd drop the Fitness pool, but that's not exactly an option now.

I was looking at the primal build and if I had to drop anything for RA it would be clear mind since holds dont last all that long any more. So what does that make clear mind in pvp just a perception buff? IDK but that's what i would drop

Stacking cms on a squishy is actually pretty large, especially if there are stuns involved.


I will mess around when I get off work and see what I can come up with mac.

What about recovery aura? Do you really need that? Perhaps you can just carry a few more blues, since it's really situational anyway. Guess it's situational recovery vs situational regin. Tough choice.

Recovery Aura is for those times when Geas isn't up and a Therm takes a liking to me. You're right about both auras being mostly situational, but I wouldn't think about dropping Recovery Aura.

Eh, if it were me I would drop Power Blast, get Conserve and then drop Recov Aura and grab regen aura.

I have no problem dropping rec aura. Regen aura is a must and imo far from situational. I know I am not on my emp a ton but I have emped quite a bit. Regen has done far more for me than recovery ever could have. With some decent evasion you are damn near impossible to kill with it up.



I like epsi thought on skipping rec aura for conserve. That plus geas and maybe a few blues and you are covered in the arena for a therm. In zones just go park in base or jump around til it wears off. It shocks me often how little buffers are actually targeted in zones.


Also throwing in again I just flat out prefer hibernate + tactics. I know emping I shouldn't be worried about attacking and such but I really really hate not being able to see ****. Its not often either I wish I would have had pb up to heal someone and dr pretty much kills the effects on fort so it is a pretty easy choice for me to make. That plus I can cheese my way out of hiber pretty damn well. I would even consider on a mind emp for strict zone play taking mass confuse over confuse for just such times.

Something more like this perhaps? I like the Tactics+Hib idea but I want CP if I don't have Recovery Aura. Now, if I had a crapload of extra inf laying around, I'd probably do two builds, and I might get to that one day, but for right now Phase/Primal is probably what I'll end up doing.
