I have started my AV quest and have run into a wall called Nightstar, I spent a good 45 mins beating on her with little success. I called in SG help to beat her in the mission with Siege, I killed Siege no problem.

Now I have run into the Nightstar on the rooftop mission and for the life of me I can't do squat with her. I have even jumped form roof to roof to feed my souldrain and not much help.

Here is my build and is there anything I can do to defeat this witch? lol

well for one your set bonuses you have a LOTG set slotted one to many times not the global recharge but the actual set your bonuses are over the limit of 5 per. Nightstar also has 30 resistance to negative energy thats gonna be tough egg to crack. And if your not denting her you either need more recharge to use your better attacks more or more damage bonuses which is harder to come by.

Isn't Syphon Life your strongest attack? Why is it not slotted for damage?

Not strongest but good, also, what is your attack chain, get some procs in the attacks you use most for extra DPS, preferably different damage types and the purple damage procs.

I changed up your build slightly only dropping Dark Blast in favor of Lucky to boost your AoE defense. I raised your recharge bonuses by a few percent so that should help out. I also got your AoE defense to the soft cap.

Edit: I also slotted Siphon Life for Acc/Dmg/End/Heal, with your global recharge bonus you should be able to chain MG>Smite>SL but I'm not entirely sure lol.

You guys are awesome! I forgot about the 5 max, grrr lol

My attack chain is Midnight Grasp - Smite - Siphon Life - Shadow Maul, Soul drain is up about 30 seconds after it drops. I don't have any endurance issues even in really long fights so I use Dark Cobsumption as an AOE of doom.

SL is my only heal and at 279 HP's a pop it comes in real handy. I will make some changes and go have another chat with this lady. lol

Shadow Maul is bad in a single target attack chain. Great power when herding and killing spawns, do not use on AVs.

Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.

SL is a nice heal but it is also a nice attack so slot accordingly

It seems to be working well against AV's but ill take another look at it and maybe put a purple set in Smite.

Nightstar has 30% Negative Energy and 50% Smashing resistance - I'd recommend increasing your recharge to run the Smite > Siphon Life > Smite > Midnight Grasp chain. Smite needs to recharge in 2.112 seconds, Siphon Life needs to recharge in 4.62 seconds and Midnight Grasp needs to recharge in 4.488 seconds.

Here's an awesome build that someone (Werner or Umbral, I think) posted not so long ago. It can run the Smite > Siphon Life > Smite > Midnight Grasp chain without any problems (including your endurance!).

Thanks Blue, I like it I was not aware she had so much resistance to negative energy and SL, good to know. I take about 1/3 of her health and then I give up because its gonna take all night, looks like I need to pack a lunch and gitrdone! lol

Has Werner, Umbral or any other DM/SR, DM/WHATEVER had any luck with her or did pretty much run into the same wall I have?

As someone posted in another thread a scrapper must kill kill kill and I will win this one even if it takes all night. lol

Ok things I learned I need to change

Get rid of a set of LOTG's ( Doh! lol ) in either evasion or weave and replace with red fortunes.

Shadow Maul is coming out of the attack chain.

Reslot smite with a set of crushing impact for now ( waiting for prices to come down.)

Siphon life gets some shinny new HO's.

I have 4 respec's so ill use one to get the slots moved around and then ill go visit my rooftop dweller and tell her that if she doesn't die that Sergei is going to come calling, maybe she will drop dead on the spot lol ( woot! )

I see other good suggestions on changes but im going to start with these and make more if need be, ill report back tomorrow with the results.

Interestingly enough, I don't actually have a DM/SR. Werner has Sergei, with which he has done amazing things, but I just use my knowledge of game mechanics and build optimization and design in order to make builds with many sets that I don't even have characters for.

Umbral, you gonna share those tweeks with us or wait untill they have been tested fully? j/k some folks don't like to post their builds.

I'll share the tweaks when I finish them up (rather, I'll post them when someone asks to see them and I've got them finished). Right now, I'm working on getting rid of Weave in order to fit Physical Perfection in for better damage and endurance recovery while maintaining the softcap. I'm currently .5 +def(ranged and AoE) from my goal, so it's pretty close. I'm debating whether I should make some further build sacrifices or allow for infinite budget and add the Gladiator's Armor IO to Tough (which would allow me to tweak some other stuff as well). It's pretty close though.

I would love to see it when you get it finished, I have been eyeballing PP fror my next toon, it has great potential.

Update, I picked up 3 of the Dam/Acc HO's last night and then went to bid on the Heal/End ones and there was only one left with one person bidding. The person must be wanting a fortune for it because I even bid 10.000.000 over the last highest bid ( I never do this ) and no sale.

It was getting late so I grabbed a set of Crushing impacts and ill work on Scat some more tonight.

Yeah at first I thought I was sol but I posted a crazy bid and it filled but either of the two numbers didn't change when I refreshed them a few times.
