Been playing this game for 4+ years and I've never professed to be a rocket scientist when it comes to numbers in the game, but I know basic arithmetic well enough and I just don't get the Math in new lolz PvP. For instance, I have a /stormie corr who is soft capped defensively in PvE at about 45.2% and in PvP it goes down to roughly 18%. Even without the IO set bonuses my defense stands much higher then 18%. I know about diminishing returns but this is ridiculous. Can someone explain to me this new math? Why would the devs go to such lengths to nerf an entire game mechanic? Obviously this isn't the only thing that is grossly out of wack in PvP right now, but this logic confounds me. Any answers that make sense of this would be greatly appreciated.

Squishys can NOT have more then 20% defense in pvp. Even at that 18% if you popped demonic is would still only go up 2% more. But don't feel to bad defense doesnt really work in pvp anyway.
