Bitter Freeze Ray, Nowadays
It still has a insanely long animation time. 2.5 seconds to be exact.
My ice blaster has the two holds plus the munitions pool hold. I only use bitter freeze ray in AV fights, due to the before mentioned long animation. Have a full set of Lockdown on it.

Rock, rock on Hamster.
Ah, so my original thinking of "shocking bolt is the same thing but faster" still works. Well, except for the extra slow effect. Thanks, folks!
If you have the slots, you could potentially 4 slot basilisk gaze in each hold, as well as a devastation and lockdown proc (both are 15% chances for 8 second mag 2 hold). Those procs can really add up quickly, and you get a 15% recharge bonus from the basilisk set (7.5 each for 4 slots)
BFR, meh. you *could* get it and do the same thing, but I doubt you'll ever need all 3 holds.
I hate to be the bringer of bad news... but Willpower sucks!!! you're better off rolling a regen

I had my slots really tied up elsewhere, so I put two Lockdowns & two HOs in for max Acc & Hold while getting a 3% damage boost. That's a very interesting idea, though.
I have a 50 ice/elec/elec as well. I have Freeze Ray, Bitter Freeze Ray, Shocking Bolt and Shocking Grasp. I am a blapper, so I use all of them regularly. Bitter Freeze Ray is what I open with, so the animation time is not a problem when used this way. I hold everything and then blap, reapplying holds as needed.
Bitter Freeze Ray is useful I think. YMMV of course.

Sure, the devs are supposed to listen to their customers, mister business 101 out there. And if I decide to start suggesting that the devs change the game from being about superheroes and supervillains to being about clowns that is my right as well, and technically Paragon Studios is supposed to pay attention to me. But I hope strongly that they assume a meth-head somehow managed to hack into my forum account and make paper airplanes out of my posts, because I hope they recognize stupid when they see it. I assume they will recognize futile just as accurately.

Greetings, blasters! Looking for some advice here.
I haven't played with my lv 50 Ice/Ele/Ele blaster in quite some time, maybe more than a year, and I noticed she's really melee heavy. She doesn't have BFR because she has Freeze Ray & Shocking Bolt instead, and no Frost Breath, either. I remember BFR having a super long animation time, which is why I went with Shocking Bolt from Elec Ancil instead.
She's currently slotted for as much +rech & +dam as I could get without purples. I think the +rech bonus is around 60 or 70%. I typically hover above, stealthed, and launch single target attacks as fast as humanly possible. Whenever I see a big herd I drop Blizzard, pop a blue, rush in, use Power Sink, and then Thunder Strike.
What's BFR like nowadays? Is it totally stupid to not be using it? Thanks!
