looking for some costume help

I Just watched Skyhigh and it inspired me to make a classic superhero. I'm going for a modern costume first and classic second. The character is 22 and he started heroing in his mid teen so I'm looking for something somone who was raised to be a hero (his parents where both heroes) but was raised in the 90's predominatly.

is there a site I can go to to get some inspiration?

well I'm hoping to stcik to blue/white with red or black highlights. I've been looking through DA pages but it's hard to pick out something good looking between modern and classic.

I'm noticing trends as I do research

masks tend to be minimal, ususally sunglasses/dominoe mask or nothing
boots are usually armoured or combat boots. high and made of tough materials

From what I know about costumes I can give you this advice for going slightly classic, keep it simple.

Tight is your freind when it comes to this. Spandex is good, or one of the more simple designs such as the Ulterior for a sleek armor design or Samurai tights for a more light armor look. Stay away from wild designs such as Circuitry, Googie (I think that's it's name) or Perplex. Stick to simple curves and designs such as the pattern ones, Sharp or Fat stripe 1. this is what I can give you for advice on designing your look.

As for color, this probably goes without saying, but have one bright color and one darker one to contrast it for your mains, and have one accent color to use hwere needed such as emblems, belts and shoulders.

Hope this can at least give you some direction.

Stick with two basic colors and possibly a third accent color that compliments the other two. If you're not sure, stick to a tights with a pattern. There's quite a few patterns that have that "classic" feel to them. Remember, simple can be better than trying to use every type of costume part. Go with what you think looks and feels right based on the toon's personality.

As for boots - I stick to female toons and prefer a basic leather/tight boot, often with a pattern that compliments the chest and bottom pattern(s).

More often than not, the random button can give you different ideas, sometimes outlandish, but it'll give you an idea of what does and doesn't look good to you.

pay him homage without imitating him.

so I've definately decided on blue/white with red highlights.

his powers are superstrength/invulnerability and he can fly.

I'm still working out the details but it will have something to do with his body storing solar energy etc.
not sure if he is mutant or science yet

Your description reminded me of a costume idea I was helping someone else with last year. Lucky I'm a pack rat. I'm not sure how much of this idea was utilzed previously but maybe it will spark something for you. I hope it helps!

I like this costume. will definatley be using a red cape. and the chest symbol will relate to whatever his name is going to be...which I now have to think of :P

okay decided to go with a statesman inspired design, since he is basically this universes superman. same power and still debating on magic/science/mutant

but if any of ya'll can help me with the name (on justice server) I'd be eternally grateful

okay heres the story

<blank> was rasied in Atlas PArk, Paragon City. He grew up watching the heroes fly by his windows. Everyday he wished he could have powers, but he was just a normal kid with normal parents. Life cointued on like that for him, he went to school and graduated a year early. For years hewas stuck in a dead end job in a nursing home. That all changed one day when he was taking a tour through Crey Labratories. He had stopped to admire some of the technology and was left behind by the tour group. Totaly lost he started to wander around.

after a few minutes he came upon a scientist his own age working with some chemicals. <Blank> watched for a few moments as the scientists masterfully mixxed and stirred and observed. He put his concotion into a large machine, it looked like it was made for a person to stand in.

Suddenly the words "overload" appeared in bright red flashing letters on the screen, The scientist was so wrapped up in his work that he didn't even notice. The machine started to make a loud noise. <Blank> ran in to save the scientist but was caught in the explosion.

As it turn out the concotion was a serum meant to turn normal humans into metahumans.
<Blank> absorbed the serum into his blood stream where it was instantly absorbed into every living cell in his body. His Cells are now desner giving him near invulnerability and greatly enhanced Strength. He is also able to fly by unknown means.

soo...can anyone give me a hand with a name?

Well since the source of his powers was the serum what about Seruman (pronounced say_roo_mon)
or Cryserum (portmanteau of Crey & Serum) or Mr. Mures (pronounced mu_rez) which is serum backwards
and also sounds like Mu, the people the Circle of Thorns are trying to kill, maybe you can work
them into the back story somehow, and Rez, short for ingame chat Ressurection or being brought
back to life anew, which the serum did... it gave him a new life as a hero.
Depends how clever you want to be with this or maybe you just want a cool sounding name like
Cosmic Wienerschnitzel Man (I know, I even amaze my ownself sometimes ) either way
maybe that will give you a start in the right direction.
