Hey!

I've been away from the game for a few years but I'm back with a vengence! Ok, that sounded cooler before I put in type.

I have a lvl 40 regen scrapper that I want to respec.

1. I forgot where to do a respec mission.

2. What should I respec and slot to?

3. What powers are good now? for both regen and martial arts?

Thanks in advance for the help!

There are a few locations to start the Respec Trial, depending on the level at which you want to do it. [Click Here] Also, everyone was just issued a freespec (at least I think they just got passed out) due to Issue 16's release, so you may not have to do the mission if you don't want to.

Ummm, whatever you want? Depends on why you want to respec in the first place.

Depending on how long ago you played, a lot of things may have changed in Regen, but not too much in MA, that I know of. So, it may be worth it to check out what the actual stats on Regen are now... so that you can make some informed decisions. [Click here]

my regen powers don't seem to regen all that well anymore.

When that power guide says that a power isn't affected by buffs does that mean all enhancements? no right?

I'm like a total noob now...

Well regen is not really regen anymore It as a lot of clicks now and doesn't really live off of regen...it is still a good set and one that I love to play.

Now the best thing I can tell you to do is make a new toon and start over. After play him and getting to know the game better again then I would pick up the lvl 40 and start playing with him.

Regen is fine, you just have to get used to how it works now as opposed to how it used to be. As Broken said above, you rely less on passive regen and are now a lot more actively involved in watching cooldowns/timing heals.

MA is something I have no personal experience with, but I hear that numbers-wise its not exactly top tier. But play whatever character you fall in love with, be it for concept, look, numbers, potential, whatever.

You should have free respecs you can use by just typing in /respec, or if you don't want to use that, you can go to a trainer such as Ms. Liberty to activate your second spec and experiment with that.

Hopefully someone who uses the set can pop in and give you build advice. The best I can do for now is to tell you to try it out with SO enhancements and see if you still like the playstyle of regen, and if not, reroll.

I'm late to this party (haven't logged into game or forum for a bit), but below is my standard boilerplate for Regen. As indicated previously, Regen has changed DRAMATICALLY. It has been extensively nerfed since the early game, and the play style significantly changed. It's now the “OMG click something now now now oops I'm dead” set. I'm actually not saying that it sucks – it can still be quite good (as Val Blademaster's 4 AVs at once with no temps or inspirations will attest), but it's very different, and skill and timing and experience plays a much larger role.

“There are definitely other approaches, but here's what I'd consider a basic plan for the Regeneration secondary using SOs or common IOs:

  • Fast Healing at 1, 3 heals
  • Reconstruction nice and early, 3 heals, 3 recharges
  • Quick Recovery nice and early, 1 endurance modifier at first, add 1 or 2 more as necessary
  • Dull Pain when or shortly after when available, as there is a lot to squeeze in at that level, 3 heals, 3 recharges
  • Integration at 16, 3 heals, possibly 1 endurance reducer
  • Resilience when and if you can work it in, 1 resist
  • Instant Healing when or shortly after when available, 1-3 recharges, no heals unless you're swimming in slots
  • Skip Revive
  • Moment of Glory when or shortly after when available, 1-3 recharges
  • Hasten when convenient, 3 recharges
  • Health when convenient, 3 heals
  • Tough when convenient, 3 resists, 1 endurance reducer
  • Stamina if and when you start having endurance trouble, which may not be until 30 or later, 1 endurance modifier at first, add 1 or 2 more as necessary
If it were me, I'd also try to get some basic defense, but it will use up even more power and pool choices. Combat Jumping or Hover, but don't worry about slotting for defense. Weave with 3 defense. Maneuvers with 3 defense. The Steadfast Protection unique in Resilience or Tough. With even-level SOs, that will give you 14.3% defense to all. Not great, but not bad.

The astute observer will notice that I've now recommended 5 power pools – Leaping or Flight, Fitness, Fighting, Leadership and Speed. You can't have everything, so you'll need to make some choices. I dropped Speed, using IO set bonuses and my primary (Katana) to drastically improve my defense. Most people should probably drop Leadership instead. You'll probably find Hasten more useful than Maneuvers.”
