My own personal network issues.

Starting on Friday, I'm having two problems. I don't see how they be connected, but they started happening at the same time.

- When I log in to the Freedom server, I can't connect to the mapserver. Or I get mapserver-disconnected in less than a minute. This happens with both my computers at home. (I know it's not account-related, because I can sign on to Freedom from my friend's computer at his home.) I have no problem signing on to Champion or Victory.

- I cannot reach the main City of Heroes website on either of my computers. I get timeouts. (When I run the CoH Updater, that window that shows the latest news and announcements tells me instead that it can't connect to the site.) But here's an odd exception: I CAN access http://boards.cityofheroes.com (which is how I'm posting this.) And, again, my friends aren't having this problem.

I use AT&T for my broadband. I tried resetting our router, to no avail.

Later I may try taking my laptop to a Starbucks and see if it happens on that network.

Meanwhile -- any ideas?

Questions that come to mind...

1) What is your friend using?
2) How far away is he from you?
3) Are you using your computer at your friend's, or are you borrowing his? (since you said 'laptop', I'm kind of assuming you took that with you to his house)
4) What kind of router do you have? And what is his?
5) You say AT&T, but there are at least two services I can think of for home use: Uverse and DSL... which?

All I got, but it may be very informative to know these...

Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012

My friend lives about 2 miles from me. We both use AT&T U-Verse (cable) with a 2WIRE wireless router.

I'm using two laptops at my house, and both give me these two problems. He logged in to my account on his own computer (which is more powerful than either of mine) at his house, and had no problem.

I just tried my laptop on his network, and as I expected, it worked fine. The problem is with my network.

Any ideas?

Are you using two network adapters at the same time? IE, two ethernet adapters or a wired and unwired connection?

If so, try disabling one network adapter before connecting.
