Ignite
I never used ignite with caltrops. Either with Web grenade, or later on with Cryo Freeze Ray.
Caltrops I use with Flamethrower and Full Auto.
If you have an old lvl 50 AR/Dev there you ought to at least give LRM Rocket a try. Some call it a long range nuke, but I never liked that description. Its more like Explosive Blast (from Energy Blast), but from Sniper Range. It is interruptable.

Ignite is good DPE on a held or immob'd target really. Caltrops is something I use for enemies to avoid and take a nice neat route into mines, or to stall enemies or around someones feet should I feel they could do with being less likely to be attacked, just to name some reasons.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
I wish a respec could let you re-chose your secondary sometimes. I'm so fed up with devices. But to the point, I have found ignite skippable in most instances. With my teaming build, buckshot, flamethrower, and full auto kills most mobs, especially if they are being held and worked on by the rest of the team, so i never use ignite. I will sometimes use ignite solo (are people still soloing with AE?) to control mobs and black doors. good thing we have dual builds.
I skipped it.. I found that the patch was rather small and by the time i drop FullAuto Buackshot, Flamethrower and M30 grenade the mob is usually dead.
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
Thanks for the input, I decided to take it in the teaming build after much thought. I figured even with the patch being so small I could get some use out of it, as there is usually a controller or 5 around. I skipped beanbag instead as I find I dont use it much on big teams.
I took the Frostie epic I figured I could stack the meagre defence I have with the armour. Plus with Hoardfrost and Hibernate I can put brawl on auto and run into melee pretending to be a Ice Tank.
If you come across AVs or just some crunchy higher level bosses, Ignite is still the highest single-target dps you'll be able to provide the team, as long as the enemies are immobilized or immune to the afraid effect. I could see pushing it back a few levels instead of grabbing it right at 26, but I wouldn't skip it.
Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.
Hey,
I need some opinions on ignite, Im respeccing an old character and I can't decide whether to keep it or not. Its for a teaming build so its likely there will be some sort of aoe control power other than my crappy caltrops.
It takes so long to recharge these days I thought it might be more productive to skip it and take an epic power for the first time in 3 years instead.
