Can someone suggest Post I16 Spines/Regen Builds?

Hi:

Long ago, when it was fun to play a Spine/Regen Scrapper, I made my Spine/Regen Scrapper. Sadly as further releases were implemented, her survivability has consistently became lessened to a point it is a joke when I compare her to my other Scrapper builds. I have heard conflicting words on how good or bad this Scrapper combo is. But I believe the combo can be made fun, with out having to depend on "Moment Of Glory" for basic survivability in common combat engagements.

So I was hoping, for some of you sweeties to please, please post some Spine/Regen builds, to include IO set usage, which takes into account I16 changes.

Hugs

I'm kind of torn whether or not I'll respec my spines/regen to take advantage of i16 or not. Taking physical perfection from body would obliviate any need to take fitness; however, I like the fitness line. And in the build I'm using, being able move quickly into position to line up cone attacks is a very nice to have.

This is the current build I'm using. No purples, but she's fun to play. She's a mostly at range type...throw spines, impale, epic ranged blasts with moving in for the occasional ripper. You'll note that spine burst and quills are conspicuously absent from the build.

She's very survivable largely because she's at range and not in melee and because she can open with energy torrent for a almost guaranteed knockdown. In the situations where she can't do that, she can fall back on MoG or one of her other click heals.

She's spec'ed for recharge (72.5% without purples), hitpoints and some regen. The Winter's Gift slow resistance IO is worth every penny I paid for it. It makes a *huge* difference in survivability when you're hit by those slowing Council blasts or fighting opposition that use ice attacks.

I may spec into physical perfection, but the build as is plays very nicely. I have no trouble either outputting enough damage or staying upright (better than many scrappers that has to wade in to the pack). The only thing I sometimes miss having is quills, usually during those times when I'm wading into melee for ripper.

The build is very endurance friendly. Most times, I don't even see the blue bar move.

Fury, thank you so much for posting, must confess I never thought of a Scrapper behaving in a Blaster manner, the thought is quite exciting. I will likely use your build as one of my two build choices.

But it seems the build proposed would be for a team oriented Scrapper as opposed to a true solo, killing machine Scrapper. I say this, for I am thinking that in order to range attack foes consistently, I would need for someone (a tank) to keep them away from me, so I can range fight. Are my thoughts in error?

Heh. I just rolled one for the first time a few nights ago, due to the Spines look and feel changes.

Here's my planned build. It's a dream build with all the regen and recovery uniques, and I know it's going to take me a while and a f-ton of influence or merits to get there. No Anciliary Power Pool ranged attacks, so a bit less in the way of recharge here, but servicable enough under Hasten.

The only thing I wish I could do is take Barb Swipe, because I like the animation so much more than Lunge. Too bad it does such sucky damage for it's animation time. If I had room, I'd take it in addition to Lunge, for flavour. I wish they'd fix it. Grrr.

She solos just fine at fairly high difficulty. I haven't tried her out at the new i16 difficulty options, but she operated at level 5 (invincible) difficulty options on the old scale solo quite easily. Her only issue are some AVs solo, but that's an issue with a lot of builds. She is however wonderful on teams and I have never failed a TF with her, even in cases where she was the only damage AT.

Also, you don't need a tank to keep stuff at range. If they move in, you can use lunge, ripper and you'll find that the +slow in your spines attacks will make them move in pretty slowly. You also have your entirely secondary to fall back on. If you look at my posted build, all of your clicks are spec'ed for recharge and they'll be up constantly...you'll be pretty sturdy at range or up close.

With as much endurance and recharge you have in the build, you can use AoE attacks like throw spines and energy torrent as single target attacks against bosses and still not see your blue bar move.

Had a look at your build, Fury, trying to see exactly where you got your recharge higher than mine--noticed your build exceeds the rule of five in 5% recharge bonuses. You can lose a slot from build-up, and still keep the same amount of global recharge.

Don't know where you'd use that slot, though. And you probably already know you're over.

Cheers,

Mix

That's correct. I have Scirocco's in Ripper instead of Obliteration. I must have swapped out the two by accident when I posted it

This is my current ( Post I16 build ) for my Spines/Regen. So far, I'm really enjoying the blaster feel this toon has. It puts out a ton of dmg for a spines toon, and has the amazing survivability that /regen offers. Plus, it's perma-hasten so DP can stay up all the time, while switching between MoG and IH when needed! Enjoy!
