Ok so i posted on here about 2 weeks ago about the coh client freezing. And then my pc wouldn't recoginze my vid card after it happened twice. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling newest drivers for the card didn't work. Here was the post about it

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=190156

Well it just happened again just a few mins ago. Probably about 15 mins after gameplay..just freezes. Can't move my mouse ctrl alt delete wont bring up windows task manager...so i had to hold in the power on my pc until it shut off. I dunno what's going on..i bought champions online 2 days ago to try it out. Played champions most of the day yesterday and today..no problems with it or any other games. I have the newest driver for my vid card so i dunno why the game is crashing again. Any tips would be appreciated. And here is the cohhelper log file for my set up.

1. Update your Windows.

2. Go to manufacturer's website and check for new drivers for your motherboard chipset/CPU.

3. Check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines

Then post the results of this programs:

  • HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

Ok well i went to msi.com for my motherboard micro-star to get an update for it. I click on downloads and it has a live update online and i go through the steps and it's scanning and never does anything and im using internet explorer like it says. For the bios manufacturer phoenix technologies phoenix.com they have a program that scans for updates but you have to pay to get them. Windows is updated. I dunno what to do. And now while trying champions online it also froze this morning. Here is the hijackthis file though

Anyone? I dunno how to flash a bios or anything like that really. I don't even have a floppy drive so i couldn't do it i guess. The coh client just froze again a few mins ago while i was just standing at a green line. I'd hate to think it was this new video card i just got...if it is..well that's some pretty bad luck. I'm using the newest driver for it off of nvidias website.

Ok well im trying out an older driver for my card right now version 186.18 and see if that works. Maybe there is something buggy about the 190.62 driver right now. I dunno..guess i'll find out.

I must admit that I'm puzzled.

If you want to try an older driver, I think 185.85 is a better choice. There are known issues with the 186.xx

But honestly I think your problem is somewhere else.
The only thing that comes to mind, is if you have tried measuring the temperatures of the CPU and the GPU. Given that you have changed your video card, especially the CPU temperatures might be interesting.

Well since i installed the old driver last night and starting gaming everything has been ok. Played city for about 5 hours this morning and nothing happened. But i did install the driver you mentioned just now. I didn't really think of the card overheating but ive had the side panel on the case off for a long time now. Figured it was better for my vid card to get better airflow. I clean out the inside sometimes just using one of those air spray cans to get any dust out if any. My apt is pretty cool most of the time though. It never froze this morning while doing the lib farm...and i did that for quite a few hours. Getting ready to start gaming again so we'll see what happens.
