Power Customization PvP Benefits

Has anyone found any PvP benefit of changing the color of powers? I'm struggling to think of any.

most of the time i just look on my buff bar below my health bar to see whats on me, not actually check the animations...I don't see any major difference besides dueling regens and harder to see aura effects or something

Might be a bit harder to tell what defensive set a melee AT is using but other than that it's a simple matter of looking at your buff bar to see what powers are affecting you, as those icons don't change.

It could possibly give you a false guess at what others are using before you engage.

Like you run in thinking the psy blaster is using fire and you realize you don't have any defense against psy...though I doubt you could mess up what psy is...

Maybe dark and fire...Red Miasma could look like fire at a distance...

Damage types don't really matter now anyway. Some of the melee powersets (SS and MA) have new animations as part of the customization - I assume they are on the same timers as the normal animations, though.

Given that the skill margin has so greatly decreased, smaller details such as power colors would give a less than noteable advantage, if any, in PvP.

Right now, there's only very minor, almost insignificant advantages to power customisation.

Later on, when we can customise pool powers well... there are going to be a lot less superspeed trails bouncing around.

I can't begin to count the times I've seen someone's superspeed before I've even been able to see the character or target them.

There was a discussion on eventually being able to manipulate animation times/damage/accuracy and damage type of powers in the ....distant future lead by Posi iirc.

That could be the only benefit to future customization ability... especially getting my scrapper away from S/L damage.

maybe not an actual benefit but you could have themed(read:rp) team matches with one team dressed in all red and powers tinted all red vs a blue team etc..
sorta like in start wars or whatever where good guys use blue lasers and bad guys use red.

also(im reaching i know), you could make an emp/*/psy defender look like a */pain corr if you tint your heals and take that confusion aura toggle.

most of my pvp characters only have 1 costume from creation till retirement so i doubt i'll really get into any customization unless it would make for good lulz.
