CoV: How long did it take....

11/06/2007 - NCsoft purchased "City Of" franchise
Going off memory of other posts I have read, I believe it was around this time that if you had a single account of only City of Heroes or City of Villains, you were given access to the other side automatically. Before that, you either had to buy both games or the Good Vs. Evil Edition to have access to both games.
Announced here.
And it was just a few days after the announcement of the acquisition. It was announced as if it was just going to be a one time 'gift' and limited offer; but it was rightly decided to be a permanent thing.

The 2nd phase was July 16, 2008.
And honestly NCSoft, a year would be nice on the articles in the news archive.

Actually, you probably do.
I hate looking for old news articles.

If you're asking this wondering how long it'll take Going Rogue to do the same, I wouldn't get your hopes up. CoV was merged to phase out the confusing 'expanshalone' thing when it was clear if they treated them like two games it would cause more problems than it's worth, while Going Rogue seems to be a more traditional expansion that isn't nearly as independent.
How long after CoV came out did it merge with CoH?
Seems like I remember CoV came out late in 2005 and the two merged in 2007 or so?
(Not that I am assuming that GR will do the same, but it would be nice if after a year or two, we all could go and play "purple-side.")
