WP/AXE advice needed

Hello all, RL has kept me from getting indepth with my toons but now have time and i want to IO them out. This is my WP/AXE Tank build. I looked mainly at the set bonuses I thought would be good for def, end, and regen. I was wondering if this build was good or what would I need to change. I see my lethal/smashing def is over cap. How do I fix that and put that extra def to somthing else? I also picked Earth epic mainly because of the extra aoe, stalgmites. That and salt crystals tend to miss alot though. Should I reslot it or go with another epic ps? any thoughts/advice would be apprecitated

That is a right peculiar build, and I'm not at all sure where to begin with it, other than to observe that Rise to the Challenge is your primary regeneration boost, and you don't slot it up with just a to hit debuff set.

I think a build like this will be:

- fairly less costly to make
- perform better all around, and
- be more fun to play

In fact, if you bought this stuff at the AH, even at current prices, you'd have a fair amount of change left over after you sold off the Miracles you don't need.

It's neither necessary nor worthwhile to max S/L resistance on a WP tanker, not at the expense of so many other kinds of performance. I'll agree that you probably don't need those ancillary pools; you ought to have plenty of AoE going for you in Axe to get aggro already, if only you'd have tooken it.

3rd slot in Heracleas health would be better in HPT for a higher build regen value. I'd be inclined to keep the powers chosen but use Heraclea's slotting advice where total values are better and certainly be offensive. Then post again. I think 6 slotted attacks are way better than 6 slotted stamina and health.

Edit: oh yeah maybe re order the powers for exemping, it doesn't take long.

Heraclea's build is completely bizarre, why slot for positional defence when you already have all the typed defence.

I don't have mine in mids, but I run at around the softcap for F/C/E/N and about 30% S/L. This is not difficult, basically I used kinetic combat, aegis and eradication as my key sets to get the bonuses and a set of gaussians plus tough/weave and a steadfast.

To the OP, you only have 13.1% smashing/lethal defense, not capped. And your smash/lethal resistance is only capped when SoW is active, so i wouldnt consider that to factor in to using less smash/lethal defense/resistance bonuses.

Here is how i planned mine out, i know its willpower/mace, but axe is the same thing as mace really.

This also works. You could go two healths in HPT and sacrifice a small fire/cold/AoE defense bonus; four is enough to claim the S/L bonus, which is the chief goal of my shown slotting.

You could also get a slightly smaller bonus but free up a slot by going with Annoyance rather than Mocking Beratement in Taunt. Annoyance is an underestimated gem.

You should not throw slots at single-benefit passives to chase set bonuses, though.

Thank you all for the insight. I now have a better understanding of IO's and slotting. I always thought the more regen and end reduction i could get would be better. so like you said, i was slotting just for the set bonuses. But after putting these builds side by side, I see what I was doing wrong. I also see I totally snubbed invention enh, to try to get set bonuses I didnt need, and all my IO's dont need to be lvl 50 to be good/what I really need. This is most definantly a learning experience and will help when I look at my other characters slotting. Thanks

I done a build fully slotted but kept it back in the hopes that you would further your build here. Through constant progression with different peoples ideas, not too many at once mind you, you can come to a build. When I am not playing my Ice/Storm I will come back and tell you the figures I had.

Oh I'm working on it. Lots of RL aggro. 3 kids, 12 hours shifts and 2 new troops coming in. I've also been looking back at previous WP posts. hopfully I can work on it more tonight and post it soon. I have a better idea on what to do now.

Aww new troops = kids on the way? Well take all the time needed and even a little change and repost. Even if it happens to be after what little time you get this weekend, it may prove worthwhile as people suggest stuff. The thought behind your slotting is much better and I am sure this build, an interpretation of yours, I am posting can be improved further still which means something to do.
