Tech question: Crossfire?
Quote:
So, I'm looking at building up a new rig, mine is about 5 years old, and showing signs of its age (It was built for $1000 then).
I've run in to a bit of a problem. I tend to prefer AMD over Intel, but I also want high-grade graphics. I was planning on building my system with dual GeForce cards in SLI.. enter the problem: I want to use the Phenom II processor. I can't find a MB that supports the Phenom II and SLI. So, what I am wondering is this: Is it worth trying to set things up to make a Crossfire system work with CoH? Or is it possible to make SLI work on a MB that doesn't support it? Otherwise, I have to either shell out more money to go with a Core i7, or just run a single video card. |
Don't do dual cards for this game, they give limited or no improvement in performance.
If you really have money burning a hole in your pocket go ahead and get them for some other games.
Most people here recommend getting 1 really fast card instead.
I can't recommend CrossFire. It simply doesn't work with City of Heroes. Instead, find the GeForce which costs as much as you're willing to spend. I can recommend the GTX 275 or GTX 285.
Necrobond - 50 BS/Inv Scrapper made in I1
Rickar - 50 Bots/FF Mastermind
Anti-Muon - 42 Warshade
Ivory Sicarius - 45 Crab Spider
Aber ja, natrlich Hans nass ist, er steht unter einem Wasserfall.
