Empaths are the most effective healers in the game. A good Empath can keep an entire 8-man team, several levels above them, alive through a high level mission arc. The cost of that is that they can't do much without a team. It's called balance. While many of the powersets in the game have felt the pain of "nerfing" several times over the past 5 years, Empathy has only really been hit once, and that was with ED. Enjoy the fact that you are among the best healers to be found. Relish in the fact that you need not worry about having your beloved powerset reduced to ineffectiveness. However, never stand with your hand out asking for more without expecting to have to give something up in return. Empaths are happy with the powerset because it has survived and persevered through all of the storms of the past and is still the powerset we fell in love with so very long ago.

Shhh... be quiet. Don't get the devs looking to heavily at how to "fix" something that isn't broken. Let them focus their attention somewhere else. Leave us alone.

How Empathy helps soloists:

With your second, non team build, you have all those free power slots. You can take *everything* from your secondary, and additional pool powers if you choose.

You're welcome.

I believe you ultimately missed my point here so I'll attempt to be a little more clear about it:

I am reasonably sure the Devs do -not- have any problem with the idea that there are some powersets which are not solo-friendly. Not every set is supposed to be easy to play. I do not agree with the idea of "tinkering" around with powersets that have been established for years just to fix a supposed problem that for all intents and purposes doesn't really exist.

I do not think the game in general would benefit from making every powerset perform well in all situations. Empathy has its strengths and weaknesses just like any other set. If you don't like the weaknesses then either don't play with the set or realize that any buffs to the powerset would have to be balanced by nerfing its strengths as well.

When I offered the solution of Vet combat powers I told you there'd be some who would not like that answer precisely because I knew full well that some people don't have access to them yet. So what? There are plenty of people who have played this game for years under the "harsh" conditions of not having Vet combat powers to help them. If you decide you really can't handle or don't like the challenge of Empathy then maybe you could put Empathy on the shelf and play something else until you do have the crutch of Vet combat powers to help you.

Buck up little campers. The game should never be nerfed to make it easier for a minority when the majority doesn't seem to need it.

I think you missed MY point. I don't want empath changed it's fine the way it is but what I'm saying is saying vet attacks are or should be solution for anything is not a good answer for anything no matter what the question. Get it now?

The Devs provided Vet combat powers precisely to give people who have them a hand with filling out attack chains for whatever reason. Seems like using them to try to solo with Empathy is a perfectly valid reason for mentioning them here in this context. The OP suggested changes to Empathy because he/she didn't realize that they have the tools available to solve their problem already in place. Vet combat powers are one of those tools.

Obviously Vet combat powers can't solve -every- problem this game has, especially for people who don't have access to them yet. But they can be applied to this specific issue and to dismiss them out of hand just because SOME people don't have them yet is a bit shortsighted.

I think you clearly understand the Devs never intended for Empathy to be a good soloing powerset. But they were willing to "bend" that rule by giving Vets another option to work around that. I don't see the problem with Vets having more flexible options like that. *shrugs*

The key point here is that the Devs have -already- provided solutions to this problem. They might not be the solutions we want because they either require Vet status or a second build, but I see those solutions to be far more preferable than to have Empathy totally neutered as a powerset for everyone.
