Ok, if any of you are from Guardian you know me and my love for blasters. Not gonna lie, but Scrappers are by far becoming my favorite AT again. No saying this...I need help with a few builds. tried finding guides but all the ones I saw were like i6 or earlier....

BS/DM
Claw/Invul
Kat/FA

Are the 3 builds i'm currently working on. I have a 50 MA/REGEN that is absolutely beastly both PVE and PVP and will forever be in love with her. IF anyone can help me with those builds i'd appreciate it.

Umbral has posted some very nice templates in a wide mix of powersets. look through the first page and you should be able to find them.

Personally, I'd stick to your blasters a little longer until I16 and then see if you want to look into the new powersets.

What are you looking to do with the build? How much are you going to spend on the builds?

I've been working on a Kat/FA build for my brother it's not done yet but here is what I have right now.

It runs the attack chain of DA->GC>GD->GC->DA->GC->SD->GC that will have DA stacked 2 time to put my melee over the soft cap. Like I said I'm still working on it but it should do find.

Why do you have leadership in there? I would go for hasten before I got leadership, try to max out my attack speed. But I haven't plugged it into mids so....

Why do you say this i wonder? I mean I'll still play both and you can be assured if i'm here when GR goes live I'll have a DP blaster but I'm curious as to your comment..

Defense, I don't need Hasten to run the attack chain of DA->GC>GD->GC->DA->GC->SD->GC. Yes Hasten will get HF up 5 sec faster and my build ups faster. I'm still playing around with the build and seeing what is better.

I took a look at it in mids, and changed some minor things, like you misplaced the hamis in Manuevers etc. But all in all its an expensive build, but I can see it working. HOWEVER...I would do things a lil differently with FA than try to max out its DEF/RES. FA isn't a strong defense set, and I would honestly try to maximize its damage output. My play style being what it is, I would work the entire build to be a offensive powerhouse that goes in and kills before they get the chance to really hurt you. While Going toe-to-toe with AVs might be a lil more difficult, I've done it with ma/regen i'm sure kat/fa will be a similar strategy.

Ask your questions here, and you shall recieve answers... points, counterpoints... counter-to-counterpoints... and usually a few good laughs.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

That wasn't a misplaced. They might be the wrong Hamis but the Hamis are bug and will add more defense then the right Hamis.

Again the best attack chain for having DA stack 2 times is the one that this one runs. DA->GC>GD->GC->DA->GC->SD->GC. As fire you will want to run DA to help you keep alive. If you don't want to use DA in your attack chain that is find but your not going to live as long and are dont going to being doing as much damage. If you want to run the best attack chain for Kat it is GD>GC>SD>GC. You will most likely need hasten to do that. But again you give up DA and will die a lot more. The only thing that you can add to the Damage is to get Build up and fiery Embrace up more that is all so if you want to do more damage just replace Maneuvers with Hasten and that will make Fiery Embrace and Build up come up more. But you do not need it to run your attack chain.

In response to being both called out and PMed about this, I decided to open up Mids and Scrap it senseless until it dropped a BS/DA build that was up to my standards. Here it is.

Parry>Hack>HS>Hack>Dis attack string while Hasten is up (16 second downtime), endurance sustainable (discounting Dark Regen b/c of Theft of Essence proc), softcapped to melee and mid 20s to others, and rather impressive resistances if I do say so myself (50.1% to s/l, 22.3% to nrg/tox, 39.4% f/c, 44.5% neg, 47.3% psy)

This hour's topic: Kat/Fire

DA>GC>GD>GC>SD>GC attack string, 44.7 +def(melee), 23.5% +def(ranged), 30.1% +def(AoE), 60 hp/sec with Healing Flames once every 15 secs (12.5 sec recharge), slightly more than 10 minutes of endurance to take out a single target (re: AV) without Blazing Aura or Focused Acc on, completely sustainable with both of those toggles on when fighting multiple enemies, good resistances (capped fire, ~50% s/l, 34.2% n/e)

I'mma post it but I'm not entirely happy with it: Claws/Invuln

FU>Focus>Slash>Swipe attack string, 14 minutes 20 secs running the attack string before totally out of end, perma-DP for perma-HP cap, 35.85 hp.sec including DP's heal, 40.5% +def (s/l/f/c) and 43% +def(e/n) w/ 10 in Invinc, 67.5% +res(s/l)

Whereas I think the other builds would be top contenders for their powerset combination, I'm not so sure about this one. I tried to find Nihilii's thread wherein I could steal/learn some of her secrets, but I couldn't find it.

Gonna have to look over that Katana/Fire build and see if I could improve on mine...
currently running cap melee with 2x DA, 44 on range and 40 on AOE. could probably cap all with the PvP IO. And I do have enough endurance to run the aura.

One of the reasons why you can run the aura is probably that you're using a cheaper attack string (twice as much DA). If I built for a double DA attack string (allowing me to significantly lighten up slotting for melee defense), I could probably get completely endurance sustainable and get big numbers on my other positionals. I actually built a positional softcapped Kat/WP just to prove that it's possible to positionally softcap with any Kat/* or BS/* Scrapper. I was simply willing to sacrifice a bit more endurance focus and other defense focus in order to make the set a much greater offensive beast.

haven't really checked, but im pretty sure I could run that chain no problem. I do have consume slotted up for some endurance, as well as CP.

... you don't have to tell me about soft capping a katana...
I till have the softcap kat/regen build I did a month or so ago saved up... ;-)

I remember when you posted that build but I wasnt near mids to look at how you did it. I also didn't think to see if you still took heightened senses or not. With positional def cap, I would think that power, short of exempting, would be a pointless end muncher.

"All problems can be solved by throwing enough scrappers at it."

Yeah, I didn't take Heightened Senses with that build. The build was utterly atrocious though. Completely unplayable from a damage and attacks string perspective (for me), and I doubt it would be anywhere close to endurance sustainable. The entire point of it was to say, "It's possible", not, "It's effective".
