Question for Justicites coming to HeroCon
Cool, makes me wish I was thinking of going. That is the collection they've used on Mythbusters?
Oooooh...that sounds like fun RG! My guess is that Somber would be interested in checking it out. I might be interested too (we can definately do one donation, but two donations is dependent on how things shape up at work between now and October).

Erm... I don't watch Mythbusters so I couldn't say. Well... I suppose I could do a websearch & find out, but it's easier to say I don't know. I do know that his collection has been written about at various times & that the foundation does make the collection available to researchers & for commercial purposes. So given this, I could see that it's possible.

It's a shame you aren't planning to make it out. The Con itself is a blast & like I said, if you like tanks, this is a collection that shouldn't be missed.
It looks like it is. They borrowed some of the hardware to try and tear some phonebooks in half. It looks like Jacques died shortly after that show aired :/
Hey guys!
Even though AFAIK Niv still hasn't announced the hotel, I thought I'd get the ball rolling on one of my HeroCon pet projects. Since people have griped about having to go "all that way" to the SF Bay Area in the past, I've always sought to do something to make it worth the trip. This year, I'm looking into arranging a tour of the Jacques Littlefield military vehicle collection. For those of you who like tanks and other military vehicles, this is the place to go! You won't find another place in the world where these vehicles have been so lovingly restored inside & out.
I've been in contact with the tour coordinator and found out that there is a 2pm slot on the 24th and that if we have a group of 30+, we can have the place to ourselves. If a smaller group, they'll try to incorporate smaller groups into our tour. I figured I'd start polling interest here to start things small & then open it up later. Maybe it's dumb to do it that way, but I figure Id give you guys first shot at it!
I realize the 24th is one of the days of the Con & I'll be trying to see if another day is possible, but I also thought I'd see which day interested folks would prefer, before or after the Con?
Other things that may affect your decision:
1) This is an active walking tour spread over 5 buildings and several acres
2) Tours of the collection last approximately 2+ hours
3) Generally tours are not suitable for young children, though special accomodations can be made, they'll need to know the general age demographic.
4) A donation of $20 to the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation (MVTF) is requested per tour participant.
P.S. I'm still planning on arranging SchmoozeFest '09, so this won't be an either/or proposition.
