Shield/Dark/Pyre
Here's a slightly different version of the build. It has a bit less Defense, but has added recharge, and higher DPS (I assume). Also higher S/L Resistance which might come in handy at times.
The slotting in Dark Consumption might seem a bit funny, but I couldn't get another 1.13% HP bonus, so skipped slotting 2 pieces of Efficacy Adaptor, neither did I need 5% Movement Speed, so I ended up putting the triple from EA and PS in it.

Okay I would make one change. One change because I believe that only you can come close to what you want. Use the second build but take the Taunt IO in the aura and make it either a dam end slot in fire blast or an end slot in Tough. You decide I guess. AAO is an aura which won't be noticeably any better from a taunt duration. The build requires you to taunt or gauntlet.

I think (think?) well come to remember when Invincible was bugged and like AAO. You had to work on keeping aggro, the moment something left your aura, it was anyones. I doubt Kokuryu has looked at the endurance cost of your build when attack chaining but the option he gave does make it lighter. Under low end perhaps from end drain circumstances it could be a good thing. If you ask for suggestions and get them just say thanks, do what ya will.

@DSorrow: I'm obviously missing something here, cause I can't see what purpose the Hami-O Enzyme Exposures in Active Defense serves. They seem to do nothing but save you a smidgin endurance once every 2 mins?

Try this ... it was going to my next incarnation of my SD/DM Tanker. No Dark Consumption but heavy on +rec and +recharge (9 secs off perma Hasten). Over soft capped Melee, soft capped Ranged and near soft capped AOE. Also perma double stacked Active Defense to mitigate the loss of Grant Cover (leaves you with about 90% Defense Debuffs at all times).
*EDIT* I know about the Rule of 5 on some of the buffs but can't figure out how I would change those and still keep the other bonuses from those sets that I wanted.

Here is the build that I'm currently using right now. Caution, its a very expensive build. I tend to strip stuff off of other characters to make whatever I'm currently interested in, to be better.
This of course relies on lots of recharge and at almost defense cap on range and aoe. I was planning to use a PvP IO to get that extra cap, but since they are so expensive, I decided against it. Also, I realized that I really don't need it anymore.
The big thing about this build, is that everyone I've teamed up with are so shock on how quickly I can kill in an AoE farm. With Fireball, Shield Charge up every 25 seconds, a damage buff up every 35 seconds, Shadow Maul hitting multiple targets and a heal up almost whenever you need it, this has become a great farmer. Not necessarily the fastest, but very consistent. Also, I've noticed that I do need Dark Consumption, which I have slotted for damage.

After spending quite a lot of time on this build and looking at the ones posted here I came up with one that to me seems as good as I can get it. I ended up dropping the Fighting pool for Pyre Mastery and swapped Smite for Maneuvers, and keeping Taunt, woo!. Fire Blast is superior to Smite; it does the same damage, but costs less End and is a ranged attack.
The end result looks quite nice. I'm still at 60% Global Rech which is only a 2.5% drop from what I have in my live build and my maxHP dropped only by about 50. Now, the changes that I don't like are the drop in S/L Resistance (live build: 40%, planned: 22.5%) and losing some of the Healing in Siphon Life.
Changes that I do like, on the other hand, are added team support (properly slotted Grant Cover and added Maneuvers), increased AoE capability with Fire Ball, increased ST damage with procs being added to most ST attacks. Future ST attack chain is going to be MG > FB > SP > SL > FB > SP. I haven't calculated it with Arcanatime, but looking at Mid's I think I can quite realistically run that with a gap of about 0.2 seconds somewhere. I won't probably even notice it live.
So, the question is: what do you think?

Somewhere between True Grit, Health, Stamina and Taunt I wouldn't be too keen on the slotting and would get a calculator out but I trust you can build to meet your intentions. I hate 6 slotted Stamina, when I see 70.79% to acc and rechg doing nothing I wonder how else I could of slotted so everything does something but it doesn't matter a big deal.

But if there aren't any "flaws" aside those, I think I'm finally ready to respec!

As per title, the tank I'd like to work more on at the moment is my SD/DM who is currently at level 50, completely IO'd out, but still feels like he's lacking something. This something is AoE damage, so I decided to try and fit in Pyre Mastery to augment this deficit. The powers I'm thinking of dropping for Char/Fire Blast/Fire Ball are Smite (Fire Blast will do its job), Grant Cover (I hope the drop in Def Debuff resistance won't hurt too much) and Taunt (AAO and Fire Ball/Shield Charge should be enough).
With the build I went a couple of percent higher than the soft cap on each power to avoid the hurt Def Debuffs can do. I did this mostly because my Def Debuff resistance would drop a bit. The original build didn't have OWTS and neither does this because I have never needed it after reaching the soft cap.
I bet there is a lot of space for improvement, for example the lone Resistance IO in True Grit which could be moved somewhere else to fulfill a more important spot. The cost doesn't bother me at all unless we're talking of purple sets, so any improvements within that criterion will be very welcome.
