So i just got the game after leaving wow for 1 year.

Ive come to do PVP, as well Super heroes? PVP'n it must be pretty decent!

Ive chosen A Fire / Ice Build as well,

Im not sure but in most MMORPG'S Fire usually leads to DOTS and does good damage, And Ice as a secondary, scanning through the skills seems to be half decent crowd control, and a few survivability options..

Im just wondering,

Is this correct? Or when i go to pvp / raid, (Raiding ? Is that in this game)
Will i just be facerolled...?

Kind Regards,

Yorkie

Fire/ice is excellent for PvE play. I have one at level 50 and he's one of my two most-used 50s.

However, I don't think that the ice secondary is all that good for PvP. A lot of the powers are slow animating which leaves you open to attack. Ice Patch, one of the best powers, is one that you place in one spot and it has a very small AoE. It's easily avoided in PvP.

I think the two best secondaries for blasters in PvP are energy manipulation and devices (although you have to really know what you're doing to build a /dev for PvP).

There are two Raids in this game - The Hamidon Raid and the Rikti Mothership Raid. Hamis are generally conducted differently depending on what server you're on. I play on Virtue which tends to have at least two public Hami nights - Wednesdays and Saturdays. On Saturdays, they've been running two Raids ever since the merit rewards increased. Really, for either Raid, any build will do. It's far more important that you know how to read and follow directions than what specific build you have.

Fire/Ice is absolutely wonderful for PvE. You get good damage and AoE from fire, and great mitigation and soft controls from /Ice. In PvP, I think there's better combinations.

Also, if you're new to this game and are looking forward to PvP, you may want to check out the PvP forums. PvP in this game is..... odd. There's a new mechanic in place greatly alters how powers work once you enter a PvP zone. What looks great on paper may not work well at all in PvP, and vice versa.

The only problem with defeating the Tsoo is that an hour later, you want to defeat them again!

I PvP with moderate success on a Fire/Ice Blaster. Before Issue 12, the Fire primary was the top choice for Blasters but Psy replaced it in I12 and the I13 changes made Sonic and Archery edge out Fire in the damage department, so now it's now merely a middle-of-the-road set. The Ice secondary has never been good in PvP because it lacks real utility powers other than Shiver (for the -rech and -speed), but slows got nerfed in I13 so now it's just not very good at all.

Skill is still important in PvP, but thanks to all the attempted normalization in I13, build is more important (go figure). If you want to be really successful roll up a Psi/Energy or Sonic/Energy Blaster and go to town.

Also in addition to the Hamidon and and Mothership raids there are many, many taskforces. These are a series of normal missions with a fixed team so the team size is capped at 8 but they can be a lot of fun (just avoid Positron).

Oh, now Posi isn't all that bad. Basically, you need to run it with a smaller group - 3 or 4 being best, and they have to be people dedicated to getting through it.

Doc Q now ... the very best time I've ever been able to manage on that one is just over 5 hours.
