Memory Leaks?

Has anyone else had problems with the game crashing their system suddenly? I logged in on Friday night and after about fifteen minutes, my computer BSOD'ed and every time since I can't stay in game without my system crashing and getting the BSOD memory dump error.

Was there a patch of some sort that's creating a memory leak now?

I haven't been crashing but I have noticed CoH's memory usage continuing to grow as I play, looks like a memory leak.

Okay, this is the Player Questions forums so I'm going to take a stab at this since this thread is on topic.

I have no idea what a memory leak is. I've seen patches that fix memory leaks and people asking about this type of thing in the past, but it is an unknown area for me. I think of an oil leak, or like when I was on submarines in the Navy, A hydraulic oil leak.

If someone could explain this to me I'd appreciate it.

I'll give you the laymans version.

CoH uses a certain amount of memory (RAM) to run. Usually it's a steady amount with fluctuation depending on zone and number of people around, etc. A memory leak simply means there's something in the code that continues increasing the amount of memory the game is using. Say you start using 500 MB, by the time you log out it could be up to 1.5 GB.

Oh my! I've experienced memory leaks before and I did not know it had a name.

Thank you.
