Inv/SS PvP build?

Hi

Never really done much PvP, but thought i would try and get into it

Have a lvl 50 Inv/SS tank, anyone got any suggestions on builds or powers that i should, or should not take for PvP?

How much do you have to spend on slotting?

well to be honest funds are not all that brilliant, but if you can give me an idea for whatever you think would be best, and i can basically work towards it

Here's a quick one that should cover all the bases and get you started at low cost,, later on you could sub a travel power for aid self.

I can redo one with cheap IO's and then another with expensive ones if you like.

Or also ask Jessica Raven, I know she has a very effective Invul/SS but again I think that she spent a fair bit.

Yea that is a good start for a build, but i think i will be spending a little more then that on enhancements.

Not sure whether to use invention enhancements what give set bonuses or normal invention, the hexegon ones

if you are able to give me an expensive build that would be cool, something i work towards

Here's a cheap IO build of the same powers, tried to use cheaper IO's and go for more individual power %'s overall bonuses are a bonus.

Shouldn't cost the earth either.

I usually browse the forums a few times a week, so getting hold of me that way usually works. Otherwise an in-game e-mail or global tell should work fine.

As for my build, I'll post my I13 build below: hopefully it can give you some ideas. I recommend tweaking it until it fits your playstyle and you feel comfortable with it. It should be noted it doesn't include any PvP IOs, which can help significantly if you can get hold of them. Currently PvP IOs are extremely expensive though, so while the build below is certainly expensive it at least lacks that additional cost: today I saw the PvP +3% def unique sell for a billion inf.

I'd like to point out that the build is a bit unconventional in that several powers usually considered "must-haves" in PvP are missing, Hasten and superspeed in particular. It focuses on defense, which has a few interesting consequences: against non-PvP builds it's very powerful as such builds usually lack ToHit or Accuracy, while the effectiveness goes down markedly against PvP builds focusing on such things. It's also fairly resilient against burst damage, which almost never presents a problem.
Weaknesses are primarily debuffs: endurance and recovery debuffs in particular, but also regeneration and sometimes defense debuffs.
Since it also lacks Taunt, it is less effective in team PvP. In both team PvP and zone PvP you will most likely be a very low priority target for the opposing team.

The build also functions well in PvE, though most PvP builds not based on PvP IOs do.

awesome, thanks for that guys

thinking about it, you are definatly right JRaven when you say about everyones playing style.

I was on RV the other day, and i was getting owned a lot of the time, but i think that is because i was using a normal build where as the villain most likely had PVP builds, designed for taking me out lol

Think i will take a mix of what you guys have said here, and make myself a build, see what i can do
