My Warshade build - Shapeshift/support

I already tried a 3 form build and i didnt like all the slots in human powers, the best powers in my opinion is the nova bolt and nova blast. Very quick recharge and good damage.

Being jack of all trades is both good and bad, i really want to avoid the human form and all the powers with it. using this build you will still be able to cloak in human form if needed. But your damage and defense will come from medicine, nova and dwarf forms.

This build is my first on Warshade, its far from finished im really looking for advices here.

This made me laugh, and since you posted this I would be amazed that anyone would reply.

Lets face it expecting someone who is say a warshade fan to be up in the early hours, in the middle of a working week having time to go through and sort out the vast amount of mistakes you've made..nah I wouldn't expect that.

Your biggest problem in doing builds is that currently you are not looking hard enough in what each slot gives you. The first build is the worse. 6 slotted haste and 6 slotted stamina? It is for you to sort out, and by you sorting it out, you would be in a better position in regards to doing all your builds.

Warshade and Peacebringer builds are very much about taste as we do play them differently. You could slot them well but we could all be disagreeable.

I take the view that if you can have a slot of anything be it range, recharge then there usually is a time and a place for getting some benefit. The question is, how often and from our playstyles we differ and can only judge it for ourselves.

but you replyed, so it must have made a difference

yes i saw it was a mistake putting 6 slots in stamina and hasten since theres a limited choice of enchantments. Aslong i improve after each new build im not worried.

I think i would be better off using a premade build, so far ive only been able to find a 3 way build or human, i really want a shapeshift build only, swapping between human and shapeshifting.

Who says im working normal hours, and if i did maybe i have vacation still, or i could be home sick.

It doesnt really matter what the answer is, what matters is you mixed my personal life in your answer.

I never said that your working normal hours. Read what I actually said more slowly.

I never even mentioned your personal life. I can't even tell you what you think. I particularly avoid things like:

"Just because you think"

for better words

"You may think"

So please read things carefully.

My favourite tri-form WS guide (and the most up to date) is This one on the US servers. Helped me a lot in deciding what to get and slot.

From my own experiences playing my WS:

Drop Medicine and Stamina. They only work in Human Form and you don't need them as long as you've got corpses to feed Stygian Circle. SC only really needs 1 or 2 slots I've found, End Red and a Recharge (that way it's up when you need it and you have the End to fire it).

Get Sunless Mire at level 12, basically it gives you a massive damage boost for 30 seconds. Miring & then going into Nova gives you huge amounts of AOE Death. AOE Death is good. 1 acc & 3 recharge in this Mire.

Gravity Well is your hardest hitting Human form attack (bar the nuke) slot it for Acc, Dam and some recharge. Since it's also a hold it's great using it on a Lieut or Quant / Void.

Gravity Emination is pretty useful too. It's a cone knockback (boo) and stun (yay). Opening up with it and knocking & stunning things into a wall is useful, followed by a Mire, Gravity Well on the toughest target (hardest hitting single target attack now with boosted damage from the Mire. Yum), switch to squid mode and fly straight up and use the mire-boosted AOEs on the stunned bunch.

Eclipse ignore the End Mods, they aren't really needed. 1 acc, 2 Resist, 3 recharge and it'll cap you off 5 enemies and be up as much as possible.

Unchain Essence is fun, I got it in the 40s. It's a mini-nuke. Eclipse -> Mire -> Dwarf -> Dwarf Mire -> Human Unchain Essence is a great combo (followed by a Grav Well on a choice target). You can do the same with Quasar too, the trick is to max out their damage by stacking Human and Dwarf Mires (human form mire lasts 30 seconds, dwarf only 10 so try and fire off Human first).

Black Dwarf Drain should have at least 1 acc & 3 heal, it makes you a lot tougher when you decide to tank for your fluffies (or teammates).

Black Dwarf Mire, 1 acc, 1-2 dam, 3 recharge. You'll be spamming this while in Lobster Form and it turns you into a proper Scranker, especially on teams. 3 recharge means it's perma and your single target attacks will hit hard. Combine with Hasten and it can boost it's own damage (which is why I go for Recharge over Damage).

I like having as many Extracted Essenses out as possible so I go 1 Acc, 2 dam and 3 Recharge. The End Red isn't needed (all hail Stygian Circle).

Inky Aspect doesn't really need a Recharge. A stun is probably best (it doesn't actually cost that much End to run).

Nova form itself is overslotted for my tastes. I think I had 1 End Mod (or End Red, can't remember which) in it and left it at that. Slots are too precious to spend on Flight Speed IMO.

Which build are you looking for advice on particularly? Sticking 3 builds up seems pretty random to me, are you just looking for advice on a particular tri-form strategy of not taking the human powers? And is there a reason you don't want human form powers?

Personally I can understand not taking the human attack powers (I didn't) but for things like health/endurance recovery Stygian Circle is one of the best powers in the game, so stamina/aid self are really not needed (I have aid self, but with no slots and only because I wanted the rez).

The way I built my warshade when starting out was to pick the powers that were going to be key to me (Forms, Eclipse, Stygian Circle, Fluffies etc) and slot them as I wanted. Then I took the powers I thought would be nice to have and slotted them, finally I looked at how many spare power choices I had and picked a bunch of powers that didn't need slotting at all. Those powers really are your friend, and include the stealth pool (Good for holding LoTG +rech IO's if you are rich), travel powers (Yes you have fly and TP but SS/SJ are good too), the medicine pool (Again mainly for the rez, and I took clarity instead of aid other for the STF mainly).

The one thing you want to avoid is having any power that you don't use taking up slots, and having any powers that you do use underslotted.

A good example is Ebon Eye in the first build (I haven't looked at the others to be honest) - it has 3 slots which means it is still a pointless attack, but using 2 slots that could be better served elsewhere. On my build I took the immob early and gave it the first 5 slots because immob sets are cheap and provide good bonus' - and because I wasn't going to use any of those early human attacks after level 6 no matter how I slotted them.

Be ruthless, if the power isn't serving its purpose as well as another power - bin it and save the slots.

I am looking for a Nova/dwarf build mostly but im also open to human only builds. But i cant really live without stealth or cloaking even as a shapeshifter being able stealth pass certain things can be very usefull.

as you said why have a 3 way build when you can swap between 2 active builds, it seems to be useless.

I tried to slot the best way i could, i admit build 1 has alot of flaws, i think build 3 is the best.

Dwarf/Nova is the way I have gone and the way I think brings out the greatest power from Warshades (But not the only way to play one of course).

Unfortunately I haven't got mids here at work but from the top of my head I will say this to you:

Nova form doesn't need any slots above the default slot, you can use some, but I feel they would be best spent elsewhere. However the attacks really need 5 slots each, this is the form you use to cause damage and you want to make the most of it, so 1 endrdx/2 damage/1 accuracy/1 rchrdx is probably a good way to slot all the attacks. The endurance reduction isn't strictly needed, but will help you stay in Nova for longer, if you want you can swap it for another recharge reduction or damage, and will still only feel the pinch against AV's when there are no corpses to stygian circle from.

Dwarf form needs 3 slots, but I wouldn't give it any more personally. All 3 should have a damage resistance IO/SO to maximise that. The powers themselves can be slotted depending how you want to use the form, and there are really 2 ways you can go. The first is using it as a tank form only, you would slot the self heal, the mire (You should 6 slot this regardless of how you intend to use Dwarf as it is just wonderful) and the taunt, but you can leave the attacks with just some accuracy and maybe some recharge. The other way is to heavily slot everything. In which case I would 5 slot all the powers aside from the taunt (Which can get away with just an accuracy and a recharge reduction). I would slot the attacks 1 endrdx/1 damage/1 accuracy/1 rechrdx and 1 whichever of those you like, to taste . The heal should be 2 heals/2 acc/2 rechrdx ideally, and the mire 1 acc/1 dam/2 endrdx/2 rechrdx. Of course those slottings can be altered to taste, but I think they are probably the best starting point in order for you to get the best out of the forms, which is what you seem to want.

Because so many slots are dedicated to the forms you won't have too many left for human, so have to be careful with your decisions here. Since you wont use human form for fighting in this build you don't need to take and attacks or shields unless forced to, and this means even in the early levels you can start picking pool powers. Powers like stamina don't work in the forms - and since you won't spend long periods of time in human can be ruled out. Hasten is a must because your signature power (Eclipse) is on a long timer, so the faster it recharges the better. So when you level up and look at the powers you can pick think "Does that power provide good utility for my forms" if yes then you can select it, if not have a look towards the pools and take something that wont need slotting. As I said in my build I have travel powers and the medicine pool. I never use them (Apart from the rez) but then again I would never use any human alternatives either, haven't wasted any slot and have that slight bit of utility when it is needed (For example I can give status protection on the STF, rez and grant invis to the whole team - powers not often used, but good to have).

The human powers you shouldn't skip however include: Stygian Circle, Gravity Well (The melee hold), Gravatic Emination, Sunless Mire, Eclipse, Shadow Cloak, Dark Extraction.

I would devote all my remaining slots to these powers (I don't think I have missed any out, but might have) and fill all the other power slots with pool powers that don't need slots.

This leaves you with not many human powers, but those you have will get used, and will work properly because you have enough slots in them. So human becomes a form that can stun, stealth and self buff, before changing to whichever form you like.

If I had mids here I would give you a quick build, but hopefully that helps.

Finally, using IO sets to frankenslot the powers gives you a lot of extra benefit as a warshade. For example instead of using 2 acc/2 dam you could probably slot 3 acc/dam's from 3 diffent sets for the same bonus %, but freeing a slot up. Doing it this way gets lots of benefit without the expense of buying the good sets. It is probably more expensive than SO's, but cheaper than normal IO's because a lot of the ones you will use can be from the sets that are really cheap.

Thanks for all the good advices, alot of it makes sense but i wouldnt be able to make a build based on your ideas, i havent put io's on any of my character yet as they are to expencive to experiment with.

What about flight speed ? my nova form currently have 3 flight enchantments on and it greatly increases flight speed. the other 2 is for endurance reduction when in combat and one for hitbuffs.

The idea is to avoid all powers from human form except defenses and aoe. For example dark extraction i know it can be used but not summoned in forms and its very useful, but i rather use slots on powers for dwarf or nova or aoe.

Warshades have lots of powers and not many slots. I find things like flight speed a luxury that can be easily lived without, and prefer to use my slots on things to help me in battles etc. The endurance reductions give very little benefit also because the forms have a build in endurance recovery designed to offset the cost of running them (They are essentially free from enurance cost) meaning endurance reduction could save you so little endurance it isn't going to make much difference.

I just have the one flight speed enhancement in it, and have never really felt slow. Also like I say you have plenty of room for other powers and I actually have both super speed and super jump

But having said all that, if moving so fast is important to you then keep the slots by all means, there is no point having a powerful character if by the time you get to the enemies you are so fed up you want to quit!

I am NOT open to tri form builds however

I tried one and failed. In lobster form i could hardly tank anything, and in nova I was a gigantic squishy worm.

So someone pro please provide a lobster/worm dual build for a warshade preferably focusing on damage!!! Thanks in advance ;_;

Although the advice above was for a dual build it was for one concentrating on both the forms rather than human form. Human forms has some great utility powers that you don't want to skip so I would NEVER ignore all the human powers, but that doesn't mean you need to fight in human.

Have a look at what I wrote above regarding starting the build with the key powers and working backwards and try following it in mids, you should be able to come up with something good, and it is easier to point out build problems than create builds for people (Especially with different budget concerns etc). Even if you get half a build.

However outside of Eclipse you will always be squishy in Nova form, and Dwarf isn't really designed for a great deal of damage (It is ok, but you won't rival a scrapper), it is more about survivability. That said it is capable of some good damage due to Black Dwarf Mire and really benefits from global recharge if you are throwing inf around.

Darkstar heres the third build improved version, i removed 1 slot from the single target ranged in nova since they do not require endurance reduction, instead i put them in sunless mire and other places, i also did other changes i cannot remember.

This build is tri-form, it has all the nova powers wich is great for soloing and keeping distance, it also have all the best powers from human form, eclipse, quasar, dark extraction, sunless mire, ebon eye, orbiting death
and so on.

What i need now is help to equip enchantments, my idea is to equip movement, and all the secondary powers with 1-3 slots with io's only, the 4-6 slot powers with cheapest io sets possible.

Take a look at Nova. You have 2 end reds in it. Surely you would be better off with an end mod and a end red instead. This would give you better end rec to end cost disparity imo.

I think its better for you to look at every slot and what's in it and compare it to alternatives across the build rather than have people do builds for you. This way you should become better equipped to do all your builds yourself.

True shannon, the enchantments is not very placed very well, im really trying to put io's in 1-3 slots and io sets in 4-6 slots. But i have very limited experience with sets, i will try and update it with ios soon.

you have to have experience with each set to know how they affect each power, its not easy.

I have had a look at your build and you have taken all the human shields, which means that whenever you drop from one of the forms to human you will need to toggle them on again; which becomes a hassle.

Additionally as I recommended you haven't really taken the human attacks which means you won't be spending that long in human form so the shields become wasted.

Therefore I have removed the shields.

I have also got rid of whirlwind, because it sucks endurance badly, is only available in human form and knocks everything all over the place, which will annoy teams, and make your mires/eclipse miss because they need things to be right next to you.

I have kept in the fitness pool, because that may be a personal choice, but the powers only work in human form, meaning you get no benefit in dwarf or nova. If you plan on fighting a lot in Nova (Which you do) then they will have no effect. I don't even think they are much good out of combat because after a fight you can always use stygian circle to get back to full health/endurance (Oh and stygian circle needs more slots - it is truly a wonderful power). Therefore personally I would drop that whole pool for the medicine pool, and since the medicine pool requires no slots you will save a slot too

Another thing I would do is drop inky aspect, it is another human only toggle which is useless in forms, however I put Gravatic Emination into this build, because it is a great stun, and together with inky aspect you can stun bosses, so I thought I would keep inky in the build at least for you to test out.

And finally I couldn't decide what was best for the final power pick, I chose nebulous Form since you had picked it (Personally I hate it) and I also picked Gravity Well, because it is a good hold for dealing with Quantums, I would normally pick it up earlier but with fitting in stamina as early as possible there wasn't room. The last place I put in Stimulant from the medicine pool, you might only use it twice but I couldn't see anything more useful really.

You will notice that although there are 3 human attack powers picked early on I only slotted one, that is because you can get good set bonus' out of it, and because the attacks are going to be rubbish no matter how you slot them.

I have made a build below using SO's, but can make one with IO's depending on your budget, the slot placements will probably stay 90% the same I would think:

good idea, i didnt think of it that way, problem is you dont have slots for all damage powers, shields are more useful without slots. For example shadow bolt is pretty much useless with one slot it wont do any damage.

About the budget i have almost 400m how, i found two purples when doing itf 1 hetacomb and another one. Feel free to spend 250 or more on this build alone.

i like the build, the only things i can find i dont want is shadow bolt, im not gonna use it i could think of much better powers to put in instead.

To be honest i would rather have aid self than shadow bolt, take one or two slot from snare and put it in aid self.

I think it would be better that way.

i think we are getting closer to a better build, recharge time is hard to get without gimping your build because the rest of the bonuses is usually [censored], instead i took more regen.

Again at work I don't have mids so I can't have a proper look at the builds (And you exported in the wrong format so it is hard to read) but I would say that regen isn't much use on anything other than a tank or willpower/regen toon imho, and especially not on a warshade because you don't have many HP outside of dwarf.

The only bonus' worth considering are +recharge and possibly +def, but you can't really have both I find without compromising the build.

What you really want is to get the numbers maxed (IE: As much damage, recharge and accuracy) in each power and get lots of +recharge without worrying about the other set bonus' none of them are that much use.
