Best Build for Wp/WM PvP?
If possible, could you supply a bit more information please? It will make it easier to give you advice on what to work on. In particular:
- What opponents you find difficult?
- What opponents do you do well against?
- What kind of tactics do you use?
- How does your build look?
I basically will have a lond drawn out battle with most brute's. Stalkers aren't really a prob as my regen is good, I have real probs with anyone with a good confuse or slow, due to the short range of the tank my tactics push towards jump in hit hard this is mainly due to the WP being highly effective at dam res and regen, ty 4 quick reply i will try to post my build i already know it needs a respec to get rid of some pointless powers.
Problems with Confuse and Slow, eh? Sounds pretty much standard to me (and you should do better against confusers than most others due to WP). Long fights against brutes... sounds standard, too. Stalkers no problem... standard.
So far I can not see a problem that could be fixed with changes to your build.
But maybe there is some potential for improvement nevertheless. We will see as soon as you post your build. I should be able to add a comment or two then. I have the same powerset combination the other way round for one of my brutes (Ailill Tighearnach, a guy with a Shillelagh who looks like the illegitimate child of the school janitor from the Simpsons and a member of ZZ Top thinking he is the king of elves ).

If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
So here is my build i already know there are a few mistakes on when the powers were taken but this is because i have changed it so many times that i cant remember but all the current slotts are correct.

Regarding Confuse:
- Getting the Aegis unique would cut down the duration somewhat, though probably it would not be very noticeable.
- Psionic defense would make it more difficult for an opponent to apply it to you reliably. You have some psi defense in Willpower, adding to it using IOs, the Elusive Mind Accolade or the Vanguard Psi Shield temporary power would likely help quite a bit. The latter two are temporary boosts however.
Regarding short range:
- You have good mobility through Superspeed and Superjump. This should enable you to close the distance.
- Taunt will cut down on your opponents range, so applying it regularly will force a ranged opponent into melee.
- You'll have some free Slow resistance in PvP these days. If you need more, try to get the Winter's Gift Slow resistance IO and slot it in a Travel Power.
Regarding durability:
- Willpower does not have that great damage resistance except for S/L/Psi. You can add to it with Tough however, which will grant +Res(All damage) in PvP.
- Rise to the Challenge will be less useful, as your opponent must be in melee AND not have a mez attack. If they do, they'll shut RttC off everytime they hit.
- Willpower does have solid defense to most damage types except S/L. Adding to this can be an option. Pushing it up to the 40% level (PvE wise) will be high enough for it to be useful in PvP. Reactive Armor sets, the Steadfast protection unique, Weave and Combat Jumping will be useful if you attempt this route.
- Aid Self in the Medicine pool is another option, and will be a very good addition if you can fit it in. It will likely do more for your survivability in 1v1 fights than anything else. However, keep in mind that using it burns endurance and it also cuts down on your offense since you will not be able to attack while it's activated. In situations where you are hit very frequently it is also not as reliable and can require that you back off around a corner in order to use it.
Regarding Offense:
- You'll likely need +ToHit and global Accuracy to deal with most defense based opponents. Even though it uses a lot of endurance, I'd recommend picking up Focused Accuracy. As an added bonus, it will make you close to immune to ToHit/Accuracy debuffs and give some extra perception. The Kismet unique IO is also recommended.
- Unless you are fighting a Mastermind, single target attacks are more useful in PvP. I am not an expert at War Mace, far from it, but the build did seem a bit heavy on PbAoE/cone attacks.
General comments:
- Whirlwind I am not certain has any good use in PvP, although I haven't tried it since I13 came out.
I've been levelling a WP/WM tanker myself lately, and I have major issues with it for other reasons, not just the PvP.
The Mace power set has way too many tempting attacking options for you to be a really viable tank.
I just can't bring myself to sacrifice them. Every time I make a build I get to 50 with no travel power and not really making myself as hard as I could be.
I mean look at some of them, jaw Breaker, clobber and shatter you just want because its got such high damage. Then you want the two AoE attacks because once you have herded mobs you wanna do a bit of damage too right, so you take crowd control and whirling mace. And then you think, well, why not have them hit as hard as they can so take build up too lol.
As a tank you just have to take taunt.
So basically there I am with only Pulverise not taken lol.
And yes you might say, well, you are a tank not a scrapper. But come on, you can't have maces on a scrapper.
besides, is it a written rule that if you are a tanker you MUST be a tank. I guess you would be a pretty shoddy DPS in comparison to a scrapper, but it can't be that bad really can it?
You take pretty much everything on the def side as well leaving you barely enough power space left for stamina and the fighting pool.
Its crazy.
it would be such an ace scrapper set. probably slightly on the over powered side hehe
Sorry this is completely off the topic of your pvp mate, I just thought i'd vent my frustrations
I agree with the too many tempting attack powers in PvE i had to take them all even Pulverise,
it has its place if you are taking on a tough Boss it adds to the attack string as it fills in the gap for recharge.
This is my 2nd attempt at the build tell me what you all think and be honest. I know i need some more Set enh's in there but this is all i can afford at the moment.

I have had a 50 Willpower/War Mace Tank for a year now and every time I take him into RV.
I'll go 1v1 and die really quick, I'm not bad at Pvp as i have a scrapper and brute that I do really well with.
Any suggestions or builds I could look at would be great. Ty to all who reply in advance.
