Graphics/Cursor issues
Sounds like it could be overheating, of the CPU and/or graphics system. Is there a system monitor applet you could run to see what internal temperatures are doing?
If that is the problem I'm not sure there's much to do about that, other than ensuring good airflow (check for visible dust or fluff in grills, and try it on a hard surface, rather than your lap, to keep the vents clear). Maybe one of those "laptop cooler" trays you can get, with built in fans to add an extra bit of heat transfer?
Hmm, people have said that before. Maybe it just is. Bah humbug =[
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

No need to live with a "maybe" if you have that temperature monitor applet.
Run the game with all the settings as low as they go, see how hot things get.
Turn settings up to crashing level, see if things get any hotter.
If they do, temperature's a prime suspect, otherwise it may be driver-related.
Problem is, the Login screen says its the drivers...Yet I've updated every damn one I can find on this thing (which is hard, giving Windows craptastic-ness when it comes to accurate info)
Which monitor is it called?

The login screen's known to give false alarms about driver versions, so I wouldn't guarantee it's pointing at a genuine problem.
I'm afraid finding the right applet (if there's one at all) will be a matter of trial and error - look for things with names like "system information", "diagnostics", "monitor", etc... hidden somewhere in the start menu, run any you find, and see if they give temperatures anywhere on their displays!
So, trying to get the graphics to run at a slightly higher level other than Minimum settings. The main problem is either, after a certain ammount of time, the game simply crashes, usually after a blue screen of death, or the cursor dissapears to be replaced by a square made up of various, multi-coloured pixels.
Running on a laptop, HP Pavilion dv6625em Entertainment Notebook PC. Also running Vista. Haven't made any changes to the CoX filenames or anything, or to anything really. Any help?
