SSL/SSH/HTTP Tunneling?

SSH tunnelling is very useful, *but* is a nightmare when UDP is involved (i.e. Your common or garden SSH software won't tunnel UDP because SSH isn't designed to handle it) which is why you can't login (The game itself uses primarily UDP). Essentially you need a 3rd party app to wrapper the UDP packets in TCP packets and unwrapper them at the other end such as http://sdtcon.sourceforge.net/ (Never used it, but it claims to do UDP tunnelling properly) or manually if you have an *nix box somewhere (Cygwin might work, probably not) http://zarb.org/~gc/html/udp-in-ssh-tunneling.html.
Your other option is a full-blown VPN to a "friendly" machine outside the uni firewall that will get you access.

Could you have made that answer any more cryptic? It's got more acronyms than an alphabet soup! I'm used to those and my head was dizzy when I finished reading that.

Basically, it means "You can do this, but it's very hard. Once you're done, kill the IT techie so he won't bother you anymore."

It's a good laugh that a Uni has so severe firewalls. They're supposed to be all about freedom of thought, speech and blah blah. It's one thing to protect the uni resources, but what you do on your private computer...
You just might have a better chance of affecting the "policy" than getting "through" the firewall.
Hey. I recently moved into the accomodation at college.
I asked one of the IT techies how i could get onto games like CoH, and he said to look up something called SSL Tunneling.
Does anybody know how to get this stuff to work? I'm having some real trouble with it.. i can connect to the news, but when i try to log in it times out.
Used a bunch of different applications, all with the same outcome.
I don't know if this information is even helpful. but the internet provider is JA.net
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
