AFK!

AFKing in RP is annoying indeed if it is for a long time.
Quickly a bathroom break of getting a drink can be ignored.

If you HAVE to go AFK for a bit and don't know when you'll be back ... make up something to excuse yourself from the RP (phone or something) to come back when you're done AFKing.

Atleast that's what I do. Keeps the RP more 'alive' and therefor more interesting.

In an open setting like GG, it pretty much has to be coped with. I didn't mean to go to GG last night and was there for about two hours. When you're actually intending to turn up you can be there in character for hours, things like toilet and drink replenishment are a must.

Similarly, long sessions of missions or TFs have to include breaks in them.

Agreed, if it's for a lengthy period of time. You can always suddenly get a phone call. It isn't always entirely logical however and emergency AFKs in the middle of some heated argument or tender moment just require people to be tolerant.

In many ways, for RP, afk is acceptable since you often know they are doing it. What is really unacceptable is not paying attention, and that's why I dislike multi-scene players. They may think they're doing a fine job, but they aren't. Someone playing only one scene can always tell.

Agreed, that's why I don't do it in such busy settings as GG.
And it's noticable, yes... but then, I'm used to the other one browsing the internet, watching a movie, play a game and such on the side... so I do the same.

I always make sure I actually have the time for at least a full mish before teaming. If I DO have to go AFK while in a mish with a team (friends of not) I will explain why I go AFK and it usually would be a bathroom break, the phone (which is rarely) or that someone is at the door (also rarely). So it's hardly ever more then a couple of minutes.
And if it's a serious reason which will take more time I will politely excuse myself and remove myself from the team.

[/ QUOTE ]Likewise. Don't see the point of joining a team, unless I have time to do at least 1 mission. Going AFK is ok, if you're polite enough to say why... "BRB - Bio" is perfectly fine, unless the person has a weak bladder!

As has been said previously, if you are away for more than 5 minutes, then waiting outside or quitting team is the right option. Standing in a mission and leaching won't be tolerated, If people want that, they should find a Plvler and leach off them instead!
