following on from this:
sketch one

and this:
sketch two

here follows a more involved look at the doctor's origins, or at least his beginnings in paragon.

as a character, his look is not yet set in stone, and i'll be looking to develop it as the strip continues. and suggestions would be more than welcome, as all fresh perspectives are good...

Wanted to stick my oar in. Nice work. The story is a tiny bit cliched, but then, this is a comic-book setting and you've got a nice style for this kind of tale. I'm not a major fan of this art style, except where it fits. I had a drawing of my main done by one of the Draw The World artists and it happened to be similar to your style, but it just worked well for the character, and the same is true for your work here. Nice.

thanks Ravenswing, nice to know someone's looking at it anyway

fourth and final page of the introduction. i've deliberately kept things vague - both the plot and doc d's look, as these pages were just meant as a mood setter. action to come.

Yes, and despite your request for opinions on page six, I think I want to see a couple more pages before deciding what I think of it, so I'm just posting this to say I'm watching.

thanks you two

here's the next page, advancing into the story. i've always felt that detective work is something that's been missiong in CoH missions, perhaps it's something that could be addressed with i13..?

Yep, been keeping an eye on pages, just had a busy week and weekend. Tonight is put aside to catch up in here so I’m happy.

I do like your style. I must say that ages ago when I first saw a couple of your pictures I wasn’t sure, but it’s really grown on me and I love it now. I find it difficult to comment on how good the actual art work is as I’m no artist, I will say, however:

- I don’t like the vague face on page two (but understand why you are keeping it vague at the moment)

- The background on page one seems to light for an alley, and for the sense of gloom you are trying to express.

- I’ve also spent a while puzzling over the look of the woman in pages five and six. I keep thinking that she looks like a different woman and I believe it’s down to the size of the eye brows (but I could be wrong). She certainly, to me, looks younger in the top panel of page five than she does in page six.

Story and flow wise, while I kind of agree with you about the page sizes and the speed of the narrative, I think it only slows down in page seven. Two thoughts about that page:

- The policeman saying “What the hell are you meant to be?!” seems a little out of place as I was confused as to where (or what) Dr D was.

- Could you drop in another picture in the top section showing Dr D doing something at the crime scene. This would increase the pacing and make the policeman’s comments more in keeping with the actions. It might even need the bottom pane moving on to the next page and a few more images of Dr D doing something adding in to this page. (Sorry if I’m vague, but obviously I’m trying to guess on what happens next with the story, so I’m unsure if my suggestions would fit.)

Overall, bloomin’ good and do keep it up.

no more posts here from me on this strip i think. it's begun to feel a little too mastabatory, so while i'll continue to draw it, it's probably best if i keep it private.

Beaut!

Say, you're lucky to have claimed the name Redlight too!

Daredevil type?

Some really nice shading and your form is great.
Page six i would like to so more action in panel 1 and 2.
The victim is great but the assailant could use more power.
On panel 2 more emphasis on the eyes flaring up.

Great work gonna add you to my watch list after i cleared it up a bit.

thanks for reading!

redlight's not mine, i'm borrowing him for this story as his MO fitted. he's a cross between daredevil and captain america i guess

the eye flare is actually something i dithered about for a while before adding, but i decided it would be too subtle without something. the victim and the assailant were drawn that way for a reason, which should, i hope, become clearer

I like the way this is going (I’m just playing catch-up so have read a load of pages) and while I do like page fifteen, IMO it needs an additional shot to show who we’re still looking at. I know that is kind of on the previous page and maybe it’s just because I’m reading them as individual pages, but page fourteen doesn’t have any conversation from Dr D and his hands are together rather than cupping something so the narrative seems to get a bit blurry.

Keep it coming. Really enjoying this strip.

This is brilliant! I loved the early narratitive of Dr D's beginnings in paragon, wish I was able to produce something of this standard.
