Installer download speed....

The updater downloader speed is... terrible. Everything on my computer is loading fine, I'm playing WoW at the moment, no latency, pages open fine. Yet the Updater is going at like... 11kb/sec, and is going to take two days to download...

Anyway to speed this up?

Stop it and restart it again. CoH uses ports that several ISPs misidentify as bittorrent traffic. Restarting it will make it select a different port. It will resume from where it left off.

Tried that several times. =S It stays at around 26kb/sec (still not great but better) for a few seconds then goes back to 11kb/sec.

The problem, then, is almost certainly going to be down to your ISP. I generally get around 600-700k/sec.

It'll probably go faster outside of peak hours, if that's any consolation. Try leaving your PC on overnight, it'll probably finish by the morning.

Everything else is probably using different ports, so avoiding the throttling.

You have other downloads running as well? Probably best to pause those whilst CoH downloads.

No no, I mean - I have like WoW running, and my webpages are opening fine and fast. I dont have any other downloads running - I thought it could of been them aswel.

Like FFM said - its a port issue with COH and your ISP, NOT your PC in general and it's internet connection.

I get this problem when a new large update comes out. I let it run overnight. Even with port forwarding enabled in my router it still runs slowly on larger updates. I just live with it, as 'one of those things'.

If you are using BT beware of the Throttling for non-http traffic.

Check out the source below from "the register".

[ QUOTE ]
Early findings from a new hardware-based monitoring project by ISP analysis outfit Samknows show that even customers who use their connection lightly have non-port 80 traffic slowed to about 15 per cent of the normal speed in the evening, when load on BT's network is high.

ISP's in general are likely to soon run into legal problems concerning what they advertise and what they actually provide ( especially to 'high end' users ) as when they say 'up to' it seems to be at there descrection and not what we can pull. If Mars said you can have upto 10 choclate bars for a £5 then stopped you taking more than 5 there would be uproar.
