Ok so here is the deal everytime I make a char for pvp, Ice/em Tank ice/ice blaster and so on I always seem to die.

So now I want to make the ultimate PVP char, some may argue no such thing but I have seen them about, all I want is to be able to take a hell of alot of damage instead of bang bang dead, and look cool while fighting....soooo my question is simple, who and what to be.

I like tanks coz they can hold good damage well not my ice it seems lol, you know

WP seems good
Invul seems good
but which of thoses 2 if any

and for attack I tried EM its boring and not as great as I would like and does not look cool, what attack would be better for cool looks plus ouch that hurt my head feel.

or am I wrong are scrappers good, like Regen or SR coz that elude drives me nuts not being able to hit them would I live longer if I get perma Elude if possible.

SO im sorry to keep you but I need help im gonna start a new char and I would love to know what to pick and why

MY GOAL TAKE DAMAGE LOTS OF IT, I dont have to be able to kill stuff I just wanna go haha haha is that the best you got silly I know but im a geek and I wanna be hard in a game coz it aint gonna happen in real life!!!

oh yes its for RV thats the only place I PVP

Thanks

Scrappers and Tanks' only place in proper pvp these days (that is, outside of brawl spamming dps matches where no one moves, WoW style) is in teams, usually in the arena, where there job is both to taunt the most damaging of your opponents (usually blasters, but HvV it will probably be a fortunata), and to not die <---which is what you want.

Tauntingduty assigned to most melee toons is due to the fact that at high speed (like all CoX PvP is, except for duels with Colds in), melee hits are quite hard to pull off, you will find that range toons outmaneuvre you, pulling off their ranged attacks and debuffs while you cannot hit them.

But if you want to solo PvP and not die, I suggest some form of WP stalker, probably claws or spines as a primary (with lots of damage procs in Focus/Impale). But it seems from your post that hiding in the shadows doesn't seem to be what you are looking for.

My suggestion is to find yourself a group of friends who are interested in starting up pvp, and building whatever scrapper or tanker you want, basically the different sets all have their pros and cons which are highly similiar to their respective PvE pros and cons, basically build it to be something which would be good at taking AV style damage but still retains mobility (ruling out Stone Armour. Dark Armour would probably also be a bad choice due it its reliance on Dark Regen for self preservation, though I suppose with decent buffing (thermal or empathy), it's basically fire aura with psi res but no Fiery Embrace. Add some taunts to that (with a scrapper the ST taunt from your primary will probably suffice, but PvP tanks tend to add presence pool taunts to the one from their secondary.

Once you have that, you can run around the zones or arena with your head held high and your chest pumped out. Don't forget to spam taunt. In case you didn't already realise, (if you did sorry for being patronising), damage dealers will avoid attacking you in favour of softer targets, namely those you are trying to protect, so you have to taunt those who would do the most damage to others so that they may only attack you, who, being both buff and hench, can take it.

Power sets don't make you automatically good at PvP, you've probably already played a combination that other players do well on.
Make sure your build and power choices are good and you know what your doing. Preferably with a good team to back you up (as the PvP is better in teams).

if you die alot on your ice/em tank, you wont survive much more with any other tank or scrapper tbh. ice, wp or fire is the sets id have. Id rank ice highest due to much res to slows, chilling embrace, hoarfrost and hibernate. id say io that icetank off yours first and make it perma hoarfrost build and then you have 3.2k hp tank, thats alot off hp to spike.

You will always die. Face it.
Ice tanks are good but you have to play it right.
If you want an ok build that is hard to kill and can dish out some damage look at a spines/regen scrapper.

Regen is pretty easy to get quite tough, tons of end for running toggles. I find my regen scrapper feels a lot tougher than my icey. Then spines gives you ranged attacks along with the melee.

But again a large part of survivability in pvp i find is down to the player. ice/em tanker should be fine with the right build and playstyle.
