Game not Loading - Wants to reinstall on c:\
Could be your old .Eu problem. Which frankly hasn't been addresed since I've been round ( some 6 months now ) which to be honest I find somewhat pathetic, Given half a dozen patches and a new issue they still can't give us a reliable install for the EU version.
Apperenttly the fix goes something like this (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Rename your updater file with .EU at the end
Alter your shortcut on your desktop to include the .EU
and low and behold there stupid system no longer tries to update your installation everytime you load.
I love you.
As far as I'm aware, the root of this problem is to do with the EU client download (either it's borked or there simply isn't one). I installed from disks and have no problems on the rare occassions I have to reinstall.
Yes, it needs to be fixed - this problem frustrates more new players than anything else I've seen, and I think (not an expert, so not sure) it could be fixed by a change to the client download so that it actually downloads an EU client and shortcuts.
I don't have access to the download site from work, so I can't test this out.
The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*
Alphane, it's .EU before the .exe at the end of both the shortcuts target (shortcut properties) and the main game .exe
Note: With Vista, change the main game .exe first, if you change the shortcut's target first the system will complain that the target file doesn't exist.
As windows generally doesn't show file extensions thought it wasn't really worth mentioning the .exe
Just so you all know, we're working with NCNC to try to correct the downloaded client so that it properly installs the EU client.
Perhaps a small US/EU flag at start-up to indicate what youre attempting to install?
A picture says a 1000 words after all
And you do kind of get that with the login screen with the US/Euro web pages!
If you know what to look for
I have installed my trial on my games harddrive e:\ and when I finished my install it opened the game and everything was nice...
Then I logged out...
Now I cant seem to run the program again cuz when I start the game (CoHupdater.exe) it checkes the files and then...
It wants to install the game on c:\ -.-;
Would be awfully kind if someone could come up with some help.
