This idea for a powerset could be used for both ranged and melee combat.
For ranged combat
Energy Constructs: You are a master of shaping energy you create solid forms for differents means.
ex.
Energy daggers: you create small energy daggers that fly towards your enemy.
or
energy gaunlet: you shape an huge energy gaunlet to smash your foe.
for melee:
construct melee : you create weapons out of pure energy to strike your foes.
with a little work this could be used for almost every archetype in the game and for both attack and defensive powerset since the idea behind it makes very versatile and at the same time unique and different from other powerset's and many comicbook heroes have this kind of power (yes i am thinking green lantern like)
What do you all think??????

I'd suggest working up a more detailed description of what you see in the set(s). The 'Energy Constructs' bit itself is so overly generic that it's difficult to see what you're getting at.

Hi Ravenswing well i left it vague on purpose so other ppl could add their ideias but the concept idea is that the hero or villain can create different shapes, weapons, armors and items made from solid energy this could be used for both blasting, melee combat, armors and maybe control sets

So, basically this is: Here's my idea - Everyone else do the detail?

This is awfully vague, it all screams 'please rip off green lantern' (or some of the skills from Golden Sun), and all rather niche. If this was one jack of all trades assault set (secondary for dominators), then it'd fit what you want well (except for the armour bit, but we already have energy aura for that).

Okay, but...

Let's take a Scrapper primary set as an example. Fundamentally, with weapon customisation, I can make a katana scrapper with an energy blade, or I can make a claws scrapper with weird claws, or, whatever else. Swapping between them for different attacks would greatly raise animation times and make the set virtually unusable. If all that happens is you can pick different vfx for the attacks on the fly, it's just another set (broadsword, perhaps) with dynamic visuals. I can't think of any mechnism that makes the ability useful that would not be just a tad OP.

Without more detail on what you want to have happen, it's next to impossible to judge if it's a good idea or not. Or even if the game engine is likely to be capable of handling it.

I'm sure some ATs could take a power set using a concept like this, but I'm not totally sure that it adds anything to the existing sets.

Well i am sry if i gave the ideia that everyone else do the detail so here is what i was thinking more in detail and yes i came the idea from this from the green lantern and some other magic user comic book char's
so what i have in mind is something like this
for ranged combat
Energy Constructs:
Energy Daggers you create 3 (could be more or less) small daggers made from pure energy that fly toward your enemy - low energy\lethal dmg
Battering Ram : an medieval battering ram apears from thin air and rushes toward your target - moderate energy\smashing dmg with a chance to do knockback
Energy Grenade: you shape an unstable energy form in the shape of a hand grenade that explodes on impact - moderate AOE energy\smashing dmg
Ball and chain: You make an huge ball and chain to bind your opponent the sheer wheigth of your energy construct immobilizes your opponent - target immobilaze (maybe a smashing dot)
Concentration: your superior concetration skills improve your constucts - improve chance to hit small improve to dmg
Energy Spear: A huge Spear appears and impales your target - high energy\lethal dmg (maybe an high dot this could be used as the sniper shot of the set)
Mega Fist: you shape an huge gaunlet of pure energy that rushes towards your enemies - moderate energy\smashing dmg foe knockback
Swirling Blades : You create and small blades around you that are sent flying in every direction - pbaoe minor or moderate energy\lethal dmg
Asteroid Shower: You make small Metors of pure energy that come crashing from the sky on your foes - extreme energy\smashig dmg knockback
for melee combat
Energy gaunlet : You shape energy around your fist in the shape of huge gaunlets to pummel your enemies - minor energy\smash dmg (similar to stone\ice fist)
Energy Sword : A Sword of pure energy appears on your hand out of thin air - moderate energy\lethal dmg (fire sword model could be used for this or maybe a simple broadsword model that would appear translucent)
Energy Hammer: You shape a huge hammer of energy to hit your foes - high energy\smashing dmg foe disorient chance
Concentration - similar to the several build up's in different melee set's
Energy Chakram: You create an huge energy chakram that you throw at your enemies - moderate cone energy\lethal dmg
Taunt\Provoke - i think this is self explanatory
Energy Fist: You create energy fist to pummel your foes - high or moderate dot energy\smashing dmg (similar to shadow maul just does not need the same character animation)
Energy Hand - You shape energy around your arm to shape an huge energy arm to pick up and slam your enemie to the ground - High or extreme energy\smashing dmg
Astral Warrior - You create a energy warrior to attack your foes - high or extreme dot (something similar to phantasm would appear and attack the enemie with several to dissapear rigth after it ended the attack.
Of course this would need modification to be properly balanced now for for the defensive set is a bit more hard as you said energy aura already covers that and i think that making various types of tranparents armors appear around the character would be very hard to implement mixing a bit of the melee and ranged set one could make an assaunt set for dominators as for a control version of Energy Constructs ill come back to post it as soon as i have the ideas more clear. I hope this is not so vague :/

I like the idea of forming weapons made of energy but the gaunlet won't work since we have pink pom poms of doom.
I would love to be able to make different weapons appear in my hand though =D
