SS/Fire vs Fire/Fire

So I levelled a Fire/Fire brute to 8 last night, and have decided that maybe Fire/X is not for me. Because I wanted to make a more "smashy" brute to fit in with my concept, I decided to skip fire sword. This has left me with three moves with almost identical attack animations, which suffice to say is a little boring.
There are a couple of things i'd like to know about SS/Fire vs Fire/Fire, if anyone who has had experience with these things would be kind enough to educate me.
Firstly, is it worth skipping jab? I haven't seen many SS/Fire builds, either here or on the US forums, but the two I did drag up both skipped jab. Is there a reason for this? I know its a low-damage power, but on my SS Tank at least it makes a good link in the attack chain while I wait for something else to recharge.
Secondly, is firey embrace worth it? According to the description, it "Significantly boosts the damage of all your Fire attacks for quite a while. Also increases the damage of all your other non-fire based attacks for a short while." Is this increase to non-fire damage worth it for an SS/Fire?
Thirdly, is hand clap worth it? I know I skipped it on my tank, but is it any better on a brute?
And finally... is there anything else I should know? When should I be thinking about power pools, and what are the "must-haves"? A lot of brutes seem to take tough and weave, and not having played a brute before i'm not sure whether I should follow in their footsteps.

A fire brute without the 2 sword attacks is like an energy brute without energy transfer... It's just not worth it.
If you take the fighting pool, you can replace jab by boxing : more damages, same stun. Else, you can keep jab for your single target attack chain, yes. No need if you use footstomp, though.
Tough is useful, since the resistance of /fire against smash/letal is not the best which exists. But with the quick and powerful heal, you can survive without it. You'll see.
Firey embrace is a second build up in damages (+80% not fiery damages), so it's very useful, yes ^^
Hand clap deals no damages, so it has the same efficiency on tanksand brutes. Can be useful in pvp (to detoggle acro), but else...
And weave can be useful in pve on a defense-based set, but on a resistance-based set or in pvp, it's just a useless power. Those who take it often just use it to place some interesting defense ios like luck of the gambler.
Fiery Embrace is one of the signigicant reasons SS/Fire Brutes exist. Why? SS has Rage and then you get (as mentioned) an 80% increase to Non-Fire attacks from Embrace, this makes KO Blow the KOiest Blow, Foot Stomp the Big I Am and all your other attacks get a tasty boost too.
For my SS/Inv I took Jab, Boxing and have Brawl set to auto, you'd be suprised how many folk get wobble-headed from this. I generally leap into a mob, get them all meleeing around me and tab through them hitting attacks before ending with a Foot Stomp after enough Fury gets built up (doesn't take long). With Burning Aura this should take even less time.
I've always liked /Fire for its Healing Flames, comes up often, don't always need it, but I don't have to click and then worry about the next one being too far away. Never know what's around the corner...well unless you have a stalker on the team.
But when does that ever happen?
@Drakmarth & @Drakmarth2
i say for pve handclap can be one of those powers to get u out of a bad situation or an opening move. i use fault on my sm brute to disor the mob before i kik there as$
I have a lvl 50 ss/fire brute and brute is what it is. PvE web evelope burn footstomp dead minions kb on any leu or boss left next mob please. The healing flames are fantastic and even if you do die raise of the phoenix is worth dieing for. (1 side effect if you will of burn is it will release you or a team m8 from imobalise slot it with a special chance to do dam and watch the numbers)Its biggets draw back is fire is all ressist and no def and against anything that debuffs res you are going to struggle but max your recharge and get hasten your heal can be nearly constant :P
In PvP he hold his own as its not max out with sets and is realy built for PvE but if you do go down that road it is a very tough toon to beat.
I've had mine at 50 for some time and I can truly say I still love playing him.
enjoy

I'll be on later, grinding my way through mercy no doubt if anyone wants to team up
