Speed build

Couldn't find an existing post for this, so I thought I'd make one. Trying to find the ultimate speed setup for a Martial Arts / Super Reflexes scrapper. I intend to go for maximum recharge bonuses on IO's (where possible) and maximum running speed. Obvious powers are the speed pool like Hasten and Super Speed, as well as Quickness but I need to balance speed with being effective in combat.

The concept for the character is very much like the Flash, so speed is the central focus and needs to be the priority when looking at abilities.

Has anyone here done a speed build character before? If so, can you post your build for me to peruse?

My DB/SR hit 50 a while ago, and with Hasten, Quickness and a couple of recharge set bonuses, his recharge is mad.

Sadddddly I'm banned from main PC (On laptop atm) til next week, so I'll paste my build then

You want to feel like the Flash?
DM/SR + Speed + Sands of Mu veteran award.
Shadow Maul + Flurry + Sands of Mu + Quickness passive.
Get enough recharge to chain those with minimal breaks between attacks.

when ya say speed i assume ya mean rech.
i currently have a 50 spines/sr scrapper which i love to death and have put loads of time into. He has a recharge time of about 165% with hasten and hasten has a downtime of 2secs.

This is the build he currently has, prob be diff for a MA/ since Spines/ has potential for a few more purple sets then MA/

Build also doesnt have SS it is 3mph under speed cap when elude is running, this is unsupressed speed as well so u move at a faster rate then when running SS and attacking as u wont slow down during combat.

It depends, you could make an absolute speed demon here but then that would most likely gimp your build in terms of offence and defence, the important thing is to strike a balance between the speed and then the actual role your character plays. Personally, I'm a lover of speed and can demonstrate that with my main, however too much speed could be a bad thing.

I think SRM_Chim's build incorporates this balance quite nicely, it's a very interesting build and I can see why a lot of time was spent on your character, however I'd like to know how you got a downtime of about 2 seconds for hasten. Your build states you have a 162.5% recharge, mine (for now) has a 157.5% recharge and has a hasten downtime of about 9 seconds? I'm not bashing, just curious.

While I'll rather not paste my build on here for paranoid reasons, I can suggest the best thing to do is use Mid's to build a character using the Set Bonus Finder feature that it incorporates (under Window). There's a bunch of sets that enhance recharge, with purples providing the most benefit.

You'll have to bear in mind that you're going to spend a lot of money on this build, Need 5 purples of one set to unlock the recharge bonus, 5 LOTG +7.5% recharges cost a "fair" bit as well. However as a starter a good defence set that provides a reasonable amount of recharge is the Red Fortune set which you can slot in your toggles, going at a relatively cheap price.

Research is key.

I timed it in game and was 2secs, this was without any external buffs. I dont always trust what mid's says and needed proof

Huzzah for Eternal Light (aka Cameron Chase...now that i've transferred him across to Onion).

The Build is very...VERY old, but it has the principles to making a Speedster MA/SR. Not looked what it'll be like in Mids...but I do know it's still a sturdy scrapper and it's stupidly over the speed cap (during issue6 anywho)!!!

Plus if you get the costume right, then it'll feel even more like the speedster you want.

Hell of a lot of fun to play in my opinion!

With the way things work I think the figure can vary and Mids can only give an average figure. I could try to dig up the link with the calculations or whatever but its not important to me. The one thing Mids is lacking in my book is an attack chain planner.
