sonic....
I usually chain Screech, Shriek, Scream, mainly just spam those 3, until you feel in a position you can use shout as its animation time and rooting issues can leave you vunerable.
I have nearly got my Sonic/Sonic up to level 50 and have really enjoyed playing it. As you only have Sonic Blast you won't get the -res from Disruption field or Sonic Siphon which are great for stacking the glory of -res . As for maximizing the -res you have this is some of the experience I have found. Recently I had the powers, Shriek, Scream, Shout, Amplify, Siren's Song, Screech and Dreadful Wail. After playing with this from 41-45 I have respeced out Sirens Song and taken Howl.
Shriek - fast animation and rapid recharge Often used in my attack chain.
Scream - Some say the animation time is too long I have personally never had a problem with it the DoT accumulates to very nice damage especially after a few -res stackings.
Howl - The opener. I dunno why I took Siren's over this tbh. Howl is a great attack that I use after a tank has gathered up victims and got them all huddled together then after the orange numbers float up I often see the foes fall (Works even better with disruption field).
Shockwave - I have had no use for this at all. Even solo after a few applications of Shriek and Scream a foe shall be whittled down enough for Shout to finish them off. Basic kb power, I know it has uses and have seen such powers used well but I found it easily skipable.
Shout - Nice damage but this power can be an end guzzler.
Amplify - Aim.
Siren's Song - If I were a blaster I'd take this power and love it for moments when I want to work on targets at a comfortable Pace but as a Def far too many occasions when AoEs are used and sleep disrupted. Kinda feel this is more of a solo/Duo/Trio team power.
Screech - Nice long Stun Duration Takes out wanderers and Runners.
Dreadful Wail - A Nuke which won't Scatter mobs everywhere instead stuns em long enough to run away or pick them off easier with no return fire.
As for an -res attack method I basically use Amplify then Howl to put -res on as many as possible to start with followed by Scream, Shriek and Shout* in no particular order. I use Screech as damage mitigation or to prevent escapees. I use DW for last resort tactics or in the scenario where mobs are immobed and DW can act as a Psuedo Hold.
*I use Scream and Shriek more often than Shout due to high end usage Shout has.
Nice summary and I have to say that I agree with most of it... and the one thing I kind of disagree with probably comes from having a different complementary powerset:
With my sonic/kin corruptor Shout's endurance consumption is easily managable and I guess with AM endurance problems shouldn't be too much of an issue either.
I use Amplify and Howl, too, but with just Scream, Screech, Shout and Shriek my attack chain would first cascade so that the biggest hitting attack has the largest -res debuff to work with, so the battle opener is:
Screech -> Shriek -> Scream -> Shout
After that I just spam Shriek and use the other attacks as soon as they are up to get maximum dps and keep up the biggest possible debuff.
Well, as sonic/kin corruptor it's a little bit different since you basically spam Shout and throw in other attacks only to reapply their -res debuff, but the battle opening chain is still the same (although there usually is not much left to do after the opener ).
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

[/ QUOTE ] Aye but as my secondary has -res as well I don't need to use Shout often as another defender who relies on the blasts for the -res. As Sitriel says if endurance is not an issue shout can be used more frequently . I am also looking into a set bonus build to improve my endurance so that I can use Shout more often because it is a great power.
i have a 38 rad/son def but dont know what the best attack chain is to get the best -res ... my attacks are scream, shriek, shout, and screech.
i prob could figure it out on my own just im too lazy and tired atm
thnx in advance
