Looking for help on chosing a primary

Hey all,

I am trying to make a brute that I can stick with (which is very hard for an altoholic like me).

I've been reading the guides both here and at US forums but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I've decided on /Elec for my secondary but still have trouble chosing a primary. My focus will be solo-pve with this brute and if I can manage to stick with him/her to 50 then possibly farming.

I was primarily interested in Electric Melee but mostly heard it is a low damage set. How would you compare its pve capabilities and damage compared to other primaries?

Another option is fire (as it's generally considered aoe) but I wasn't very happy with my fire/fire brute in the first place. Tho it was my first brute and I am willing put the blame on me rather than the set on this one.

SS was actually fun on my SS/fire and even on very low levels I had good *SMASH* feeling.

And there is SM which I had no experience with but read very good things. All of them was focusing on pvp and/or ST tho so I am not sure if it would suit me.

I had too many DM characters so it's out on this one.

What I want is a good damage set with preferably some aoe capability as I really feel *SMASH* when I jump into crowds and be the last one standing. I am thinking of doing mishes on 2nd or 4th difficuly depending on my level.

I hope you can suggest me a primary that I can have fun from level 1 and have no trouble figting crowds.

Thanks in advance.

I'm gunna throw my hat in and suggest Stone Melee, its and extremely high damaging set with a couple of good tools to boot. The only problem is its a little End heavy and long(ish) recharge times, which /Elec should help...with the likes of Lightning Reflexes and Power Sink.

The 4 main melee ST attacks (Stone Fist, Stone Mallet, Heavy Mallet and Seismic Smash) all carry a secondary effect, either Stuns or Knockback/up. They also string together to make a high damaging ST set, plus Seismic Smash is also a Mag 4 hold...which should hold a boss in one application, as well as being your highest damaging power. You have a ranged attack in Hurl Boulder which is good for runners and flying foes, altho I don't currently have it.
Build Up is, well its just build up....click it for some extra smash factor. Then you get 2 AoEs, the first 'Fault' is the better of the two, because its Knock Up and carries a stun factor...only problem is that it carries no damage, but has a quicker animation time. Tremor is your only AoE damage that you'll get and it hits for about the same damage as Stone Fist, it also does knockback.

General tactics I use for my SM/Invuln is to jump into the first mob and hit Fault, then smash away with the ST attacks with Fault again once its charged...you get too hit them and they get thrown all over the place.

I personally love it and would give it a try if you're looking for something with a little SMASH factor to it.

The brute I enjoyed most was (is) my SS/Elec...
Perma rage just puts'm above the others for me, the drawback of rage is only the 10 seconds where U can't fight, the end drain can be countered with the end drain on the /Elec, so... go go SMASH up things without a break (only the rage down must be taken into account)
